All of the maps are now up except for one... and the other two if the pledges stay above 8K. They've been up and down multiple times, but there's still another month.

I only just caught up with this one - it's pretty cool.

Terraformed Vong Coruscant is still my favourite though:

It was supposed to be 12 maps, boosted to 14 maps by clearing $8000. We now see 13 of those 14:

Capital City x4
Echo Base x2
Acolytes' Tomb
Trade Center Plaza
Bioformed Planet/Vong-Formed Coruscant/Not sure what the official title will be
Oceanic Facility
Mercenary Camp
Great Library
Dark Arts Academy

There's also the 'mystery map' for big donors:
Communications Bunker (mystery map)

It says 'one of the mystery maps', so maybe it will end up being a double-sided map.

follow the link. You'll need 2 things: A kickstarter account and and a credit card. once you make your pledge, the money will be automatically charged to your account when the kickstarter drive is over, a little over 2 weeks from now. once the drive is over you'll get an email from kickstarter to get your mailing address. once I get the info, you get your maps. :-) it reall is easy, just take a look at the link

The description says the 4 capital city maps can be combined in 'countless' ways. So I counted them, just because I wanted to do the impossible.

There are 13 arrangements for the 4 maps (each map is represented by 2 letters in each arrangement). Each arrangement is counted separately:

Code:

I.
aabbccdd  (one loooong map)

Choose a map, then an orientation, then a map, then an orientation, etc.
4*2*3*2*2*2*1*2 = 192

Divide by 2 because rotations are equivalent: 96 total.

II.
aabbcc
dd

Same as above, but no need to divide by 2.  192 variations.

III.
aabbcc
  dd

192.

IV.
aabb
  ccdd

192/2 = 96.  (Rotations are equivalent.)

V.
  aabb
ccdd

96.

VI.
aabbcc
    dd

192

VII.
aabb (big rectangle)
ccdd

192 / 2 = 96

VIII.
aa
bbcc
  dd

96

IX.
  aa
bbcc
dd

96

X.
aa
bb
ccdd

192

XI.
aa
bbcc
dd

192

XII.
aabb
cc
dd

192

XIII.
aa  (orientation often used for 4player mass battles)
bb
cc
dd

96

Adding it all up: 7*96 + 6*192 = 1824 configurations.

He posted a starfighter image:

The only map left is Treetop City, and it doesn't look like it belongs in Treetop City, so perhaps there will be a second side to the Kickstarter Reward map, with the starfighter as part of it.

Yeah I need to update that. I cancelled the Treetop city, as I wasn't able to make any layout work within my 34x22. I want to revisit it as maybe a connectible double map.

No complaint from me. I have map pack 2, so I wasn't itching for a treetop city, but I know that one is long out of print. The desert oasis you mentioned sounds great!

If Treetop City becomes a double or quadruple map, consider keeping half the maps technology-free so that those could be used as either Ewok Village or Kashyyyk. Out of curiosity - are there other known treetop societies in the SW universe besides Kashyyyk and the Ewok Village? Anyone know?

The last map is posted, but I can't tell if the water outside is low objects or a pit. Or maybe difficult terrain.

Miniature Market just got the new map pack. Gah - inconsistencies. They are selling "Map Pack 5" as just the 4 maps for the Capital City. The other 3 maps are available individually. Good prices - $38 for all 7 double-sided maps.

As a SWM community, do we still call the whole thing Map Pack 5 since that's how it was originally marketed? I'd assume so.

Played 3 times on Oceanic Facility last night. I liked it for the Restricted list after all. My initial concern was the one square of very protected gambit that the left side gets. They can get there in the first round with any movement breaker beyond Move Faster. But right side gets first round gambit with no movement breaker at all. It's just that it's vulnerable gambit. In any case, we liked the map in all 3 games, even though one of them was basically a lock-out game.

Probably time to un-sticky this one. Maybe stick the map pack 7 thread?
