I never been to gencon.
I 'm thinking about going this year, so there is only one question I need answered:
How much dose it cost to get in for 2-3 days????
I don't need a hotel, so dont count that in.
I just need to know what the regular cost is to get in a few days. other then that I'm good to go.
any other advice is welcomed.

I know from the site it is $68 for a weekend pass. Then the guys told me here that it was a fee for each event. I'm still not sure what events I should register for. Someone on Facebook started a group for each event for Star Wars. There seem to be several.

The cost is usually like $30 per day to get into the convention. So, if you think you're going to go for 3 or more days, it's cheaper to get the $68 weekend pass.

Then, like Mickey said, there's a fee for each event as well. I think it is $10 for each tournament, with the Championships being $20 or so, and the Sealed events being $30 (which includes the 2 boosters though, so those events are basically free after you 'buy' the boosters).

Plus, also remember that if you intend to spend all day at the convention center, food is not cheap, so figure on $7-$8 per meal at a minimum, unless you bring stuff with you.

That is for a four day badge the price Lobo gave you so actually it covers all four days of the convention. I think there is a Saturday/SUnday only badge that is like $35

But really if you are gonna go you dont want to miss any of the days.

I don't see a Sat/Sun badge. That would be nice for some people for sure. According to the GenCon site it is $38 for one day, or $68 for the whole weekend. That's pretty much the only options.

http://www.gencon.com/2009/indy/cs/attendees/registration.aspx

As for the cheapest way to get in for 3 days....win a Regional. :P

Seriously though, nobody said conventions are cheap. GenCon is actually pretty decent for the 4-day badge. For the last two SW Celebration conventions, it was more like $120 for a 4-day badge.

And yeah, I usually spend the $70ish for the badge, plus around a $100 or so for all the events I want to participate in.

If you have a badge that's good for Thursday as well, but there aren't any Miniatures events on the calendar that you want to play, there are several other options for you. You can play SWM League, which will go from like 11 to 8 on Thursday. If you can find 3+ other people, Jim Fraser (aka Moses) will do an 'on the spot' tournament for you (no guarantee of prizes, but he often works something out). There's also the excellent dealer hall you can check out, not to mention the gobs and gobs of other gaming things going on around the rest of the convention center.

The thing is compared to other conventions it is pretty cheap. But with the economy these days you are right it is expensive. I still think it is worth the expense and you will have a great time. I have yet to hear anyone say they did not have fun at Gencon.
