Hate is awfully big word, if they were that big of a "mistake" they would have been winning events long before this past weekend's regional.

I've become convinced that I'm the only player in the world who really loves Naboo squads even half as much as Gerry does, so I'm really happy they got the win. Lots of people don't like them because it isn't a run-up-and-hit-stuff-with-lightsabers squad, but I think it's one of the most tactically rewarding squads out there because it's really not easy to play at all in most matchups, but incredibly powerful if you can play it correctly. Good job, Gerry!

Exactly to the point Daniel, the Naboo have a number matchups that favor the opponent (any Shan JM OR build/High Def Jedi/Soresu Mastery).

However, they will do well against the "en vogue" Daala & Talon Klaatde squads in the right hands. I've been sitting on this cloaked build for some time now and knew I was going to roll them out at one of the regionals. I had some favorable matchups and had to beat the Tantive Trooper and Gungan builds twice, which against Jason & Kris is no gimme.

One for the Republic!

I love Naboo squads 2/3 as much as Echo. Why? Because they're filthy and whoever plays them are filthy and whoever invented them is a dirty, dirty girl. (*knowing smile*)

It has been a wild ride on this weekend! On 2hrs of sleep after two XW events and thhe SWM regional finishing at 4am, I am now officially shot.

I will provide full squad lists from the event but no one elected to take that Imperial harpy. The Naboo finally get the win and this may be the best build I've formulated around them. Fitting they should be my first regional win after a number of top 4's.

"Mothballed?"

Mon Mothma
Yularen
Panaka of Theed
Padawan Cmdr
Queenie Amidala "the real Dala"
Doombot
Mas
Naboo Trooper x11
The right honorable Onocanda Farr
Spaarti CTD x3
Naboo Soldier x4

Congrats Gerry. BlooMilk

I'm curious, how much impact did the Padawan have in your games?

The Cmdr was invaluable, mainly do to the Speed 8 when postioned correctly.

By cloaked, you just mean you had it hidden, right? Did I miss the Cloaked in the squad?

not every one has the skill at squadbuilding and play that you do, Ger-Bear,I think a piece that cheap
shouldn't have such high damage potential.

alot of the v-sets give me a big NPE in tournies.

Haven't you been winning with them? Or did you use Pilots?

But curiously enough and with all do respect, you played with albeit at the time one of the v-set meta's biggest NPE in Ms. Shan JM. I further recall a top 8 finish for you at the 2012 GenCon in a field of 36 players, so do not sell yourself short.

Are the Naboo inexpensive yes, do they pack a punch yes, do they many times have trouble hitting the broad side of a barn yes again.

I have been successful with the Troopers, Pilots and now Soldiers in match play but this is the first overall tournament victory for me using the Naboo.

C'mon. We're talking about Gerry here, He's never quite sane.

Congrats Gerry on finally getting that stupid monkey off your back. And now, just think, if it wasn't for me beating you last year at Chicago, you might have 2 regional titles with 2 completely different republic builds.

Here is my tourney report. I played gungans because I figured we would see quite a bit of Daala and Klats because of how well they have been doing and gungans should be able to handle either of those.

Rd 1 against Jiim and his Talon Karrde squad.
I outactivated him, and he failed 9 of his first 10 cesta saves. It was bad, bad news for Jim. Morigan died without doing anything, and Embo died after only killing 1 gungan (who didn't actually die). Took out the wookies from there, and Jim scooped up since he was out of damage dealers.

Rd 2 against Eric and Mace in yer face
Besides my losses to gerry, this was the game I felt was my worst matchup of the day because it is soooooo mobile, even more mobile than the squad I was running, plus all my guys have 30 HP. Eric forgot that Dr E could do his thing twice and that made all the difference. This game was a bloodbathe. By the end of the 3rd round or so, Most of my guys were dead, as were most of his dudes. The 2 key points in the game were me getting 60 auto damage on mace from Dr E, and later when I flamed Anakin to kill him and also killed my own panaka. Eric made about average save rolls and with a little better luck and realizing the 60 from Dr E, I think Eric could have won this game. 2-0 6 pts.

Rd 3 against Josh and Mace/Gowk.
This game lasted exactly 3 rounds and about 15 mins before Josh was defeated. End of Rd 1, I towed up Flame guy #1 and did 40 to GOWK and killed R2. Swapped in Flame #2 and did 20 more to GOWK and 20 to a klat. Then won init and used flame Guy #2 to do 20 more to obi and 20 to mace. Josh used Mace to go kill 2 gungans and a rodian, then tried to use the klat but he couldn't put out the fire so died. Then I swapped back to flame guy #1 and finished off GOWK. Spent the rest of the round finishing off Mace and positioning to get to the remaining klats. Rd 3 was pretty much clean-up and finishing off the rest of his squad.

Rd 4 against Gerry and Naboo.
Gerry bunches up and I get a couple nice Cestas off on some troopers, killing I Think 5 or 6 in exchange for 2 gungans. I make a mistake later by forgetting that Momaw has stealth so Gerry shoots right past him to the guys I was trying to use momaw to protect (not good for me). I clean out most of the troopers by the end of the game, but don't do much to the soldiers and lose a game that wasn't all that close.

Semis vs Chris Cook and Talon with Klats.
We play on his Cargo docks. I make a small mistake on set-up letting him snipe a couple of guys before I can get them out of the way. Then I Go with the very slow process of using Bombad Gungan to let me target a klat, swapping in a different gungan and trying to kill said klat. There are 2 huge turning points in the game. First, he didn't realize you could move past a beveled corner, so I sneak momaw past one (giving up the AoO) and finish off that klat (and wicket and a mouse) in exchange Momaw. 2nd was he had a sweet move using karrde to move up his jawa and running around the corner to get a shot on R2 that I hadn't seen coming and he missed by 1. That let me keep R2 alive which let me tow Dr E over to his MOrrigan and finish her off, which was the big point swing in the game.

Finals with a rematch vs Gerry.
While playing the semis, I knew that if I won, I would finish 2nd again since Kris and Gerry were both pretty horrid matchups. Anyway, Gerry learned more than I did from our previous match and kept his guys all spread out so I could never hit more than one (or sometimes 2) with a Cesta and then used positioning to keep advance and deathshots to let him keep extending and pushing. I Took care of all the soldiers (he led with them) and about half the troopers before falling to Gerry and the Naboo. When time was over, he had cleared out all my actual damage dealers and would have needed 1-2 more rds to finish off my commanders and support.

Great fun was had by all and I am ever gracious to our host for such a fun environment and great place to game.

Forgot to mention that we all got to meet Keith (DarthBinks1) and it was really awesome to see a new face at a tourney (especially one at someone's house).

Hope to see you around more in the future Keith.
