I am Darth Jim, keeper of Trevor's squad. While I will confirm that he has sent his squad to me, I can't read it because it is written in Canadian. For some reason all I want to do now is drink beer while wearing snowshoes and look at moose pictures.

Here's the cipher that decodes the key of Canadian language: just remove all of the times that the letters "eh" show up together. And ignore any "?"s that show up after those 2 letters. Then add some "u"s to words like "color" and "neighbor." After that, I think you'll find that Canadian is a pretty easy language to learn.

Adding "u"s to words seems pretty legit to me...

And to the rest of the English-speaking world. And for that matter, most of the any-language-speaking world uses the metric system too...these Yankees are an interesting bunch! :)

(Just poking fun...I like within 45 minutes of Yankee Stadium, myself!)

Hey, we've got a solid turn-out so far: 8 people! Up to this point, I've received squads and info from the following people:

Sharron (Aaron Curtis)
Dr Daman (Dave Moore)
Spryguy1981 (Matt Spry)
Atmsalad (Etienne Sallade)
TheSilverFlame (Kyle L)...not on the BM forums
Amadeus (real name??)
TimmerB123 (Tim Ballard)
thereisnotry (Trevor Payton)
...[As a side note, Darth Moore (Paul Moore) was the first (other than me) to send his info in, but then he sent a last-minute follow-up BM saying that he can't play. We know his heart is with us, so that's at least something.]

I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who've sent your info in nice and early. I don't want to turn anyone away, though, so if you're hoping to play in the Vassal Regional this year, then send me your info ASAP and we might be able to fit you in (it will take time to get your info all registered, though).

I've already mentioned that I'll have to drop at some point before the end, and that Dave Moore will be taking over as TO at that point.

Once we announce the first round pairings I'll paste all of the squads and map choices into this thread so that those who are interested can follow the progression of the event.

Yes, that's the plan. We did it back when we had just 6, a few years ago.

Standings after 3 rounds of Swiss:

1. Tim Ballard (TimmerB123) 3-0, 6pts (Imperial Double Swap)
2. Matt Spry (Spryguy1981) 2-1, 6pts (Fringe Talon/Jarael)
3. Trevor Payton (thereisnotry) 2-1, 6pts (Republic GOWK/Mace)
4. Grant Stickley (Amadeus) 2-1, 4pts (Sith Dessel/Gloomwalkers)
5. Etienne Sallade (Atmsalad) 1-2, 4pts (Imperial Daala Scouts)
6. David Moore (DrDaman) 1-2, 4pts (Mandalorian MtV and NCO)
7. Aaron Curtis (Sharron) 1-2, 3pts (Sith Bane/Caedus)
8. Kyle L (TheSilverFlame) 0-3, 0pts (Vong SuperStealth)

I (Trevor) had to drop after Swiss, so Amadeus and Etienne moved up (to 3rd and 4th respectively). David Moore took over as TO and judge after I left.

Top 4:
(1) Tim vs (4) Etienne
(2) Matt vs (3) Amadeus

Good luck guys!

Congrats to Matt on the win! Always happy to see a Talon squad do well. The Talon/Marn/Jarael combo took me to two top 4s last season--nice to know it's still viable.

Wish we could have participated --hopefully next year.

Well, there were only 8 squads in all, so I wouldn't jump to say it was Imperial-heavy. If that were the case, then it would also be Sith-heavy, since there were 2 squads of both of those factions.

I think a nice thing was that there was really no squad that was a copy or even a close replica of another. Both of the Imperial and Sith squads (the only factions represented more than once) were very different from each other.

Meant for the top 4 haha but the meta is quite diverse these days, minus the super popular Boba

Actually, I'm not sure that Boba is that much of a big deal. I think it's more a matter of him being popular than being overpowered. We haven't had a good Boba in FOREVER. Personally, that was what made me want to play him.

--I think my squad might've been stronger with Scorch and Sev (100dmg/round including Accurate, Shields, extra activation, extra door control) over Boba (60dmg Accurate, Evade), but I just like to play Boba, so I used him.
--In the Talon squad, there's no question that having Accurate Shot is strong, but with Mira to remove Stealth, Cad has more damage output than Boba does every round and the same attack bonus vs uniques.

Just looking at these 2 squads, while Boba certainly is popular, I don't necessarily think that he's too strong. He's good...but it's a trade-off between him and Cad in many squads.
