I would like to know why Daala was not been banned or nerfed.
I KNOW that some people are tired of nerfs and they have spoken up, personally, I have given up on trying for things like Ozzel, and Thrawn, and other staples that I find as NPE's.
and for the most part I understand the reasoning.
but Daala is a different thing altogether.
Daala just won a gencon and was never beat... Sometimes won super super easily.
Daala is an auto win against some otherwise tier 1 options.
this alone should cause a nerf, counter, or ban.
It is high activation and diplomats. Two things that, separately, people do not like, combined into one entity.
I would like to know how the conversation went about Daala.
I would like for each balance committee member to sound off on their views on Daala and what and why they fought for what they did so we can come to a better understanding of why it was kept when it went undefeated and is disliked by quite a few people around the community.

I'll correct my post can anyone defend the facts that:
A. Daala legitamately takes 0 and I mean 0 skill to play.
B. She's clearly overpowered
C. Even after 2 erratas she won gencon where the top players in the world are supposed to play and didnt lose a single game.-- should be eye opening.
D.By atms own admission Jangalore was a big fear for him beat it first round 3 points. 2nd match.. 3-0. Third match.. spry runnin the other squad he didn't want to face... 2-1 wow... someone got points against daala lol... 4th round 3-0... 5th... 3-0 semis.. jangalore again... 2-1 finals... 2-0 So his opponents managed to collect a whopping 2 points against him the whole tournament lol...
Defend that please...

Etienne is the ONLY BC member to repeatedly bring up Daala asking for potiential errata. The rest of the team has varying views on Daala but doesn't feel ANY urgency or need to change her AGAIN. The Balance Committee has already made multiple errata to Daala. Virtually every V-set since 2014 has been creating pieces to address her. So most of us just want to leave Daala alone and see how things play out. Etienne went undefeated at Gencon because he's one of the best players in SWM. When did Jason lose a Regional last year? . . . when Etienne showed up after being gone for nearly a year. I was at GenCon and watched the games against Etienne's Daala. Spry's squad would beat Etienne's Daala easily, and Spry would have won if it wasn't for unbelievable luck. If Deri hadn't beaten Spry in the finals, Etienne would have been hard pressed to repeat his lucky win against Spry. Paul's Jangalore squad was beating Etienne's Daala, Etienne bearly grabbed gambit last round to win. Then in the champs Deri made a critical error as Etienne cleverly set up Palleon's bubble. So not only did Etienne have to play really really well, he needed super crazy luck, and a freakin genius level IQ opponent to screw up . . . yeah easy. Creating pieces like daala that make a super high act squad with act control tier 1 should be something that is avoided in the future. It may be some peoples play style, but it is horrible for the game as a whole. That's what the issue really is. I was teachings one of my friends how to play and we eventually got onto the topic about snow trooper squads. The whole idea is cheap and not fun and he wasn't interested in learning a game where that's one of the top squads right now.
It appears that the powers to be are okay with games only finishing the 3rd or 4th round by the time an hour is over. For new players, and even old, it is hard to finish 3 rounds with so many activations. My match against jake in Chicago barely got in 3, we finished the 2nd with 5 seconds left in the hour. We both were running big squads and I am new.
It would seam to me like we would want the game to be pushed in a direction that makes it fun for new players. Not frustrating which is where it is at. Does the design team realize that? I know they hear the constant complaints that they have heard for the past three years, but do they realize that the game can be actually discouraging for new players?

My Gencon win was all Daala, really I played no part in it. The whole time I just trusted she would do her thing. If I ever had any doubt I would just whisper to myself "heart of the squad" and she would take care of the rest. The power of the bond between a boy and his squad won the day. Brings a tear to my eyes thinking about it.

As funny as that is its basically the truth. How hard is it to stand in cover with diplomats force immunitty and charge from 12 squares with boosts that can't be interupted lol. I mean come on don't act like that takes skill lol. Sure maybe just maybe against Leia speeder I'll give you that one I guess. But come on its a squad that takes a decent player and makes them great. I mean come on two people collected 100 points that's it. I mean for crying out loud when you kill when one of those overpowered pieces because of daala you get what 5 points... pathetic
