Congrats to 2012 TILE WARS World Champion Jake Koleczek! Jake we look forward to your write-up!

Since Jake is already in the TILE WARS Hall of Fame, we're inducting 2 this year!

After much thought - I am inducting:

2012 - Ben Johnson (aka buttcabbge) Major supporter, 2012 Missouri TILE WARS regional champion
2012 - Amanda Pulis (aka blainesmom here and mammathehutt on SWMGamers.com) Major supporter, Artwork guru for prize support

Congrats to you both, and thanks for your support!

Also - on the radar for 2013 induction, here are two more outstanding players:

Ian Cunningham (aka luke hates thrawn) (Perennial TILE WARS GenCon top finisher)
Bryan Hole (aka DarkDracul) (Kokomo TILE WARS regional champ - largest TW Regional ever!)

The restroom in Railway station isn't legal, is it? It doesn't show on the list, but it looks like it would be legal.

It's on Vassal. It's called restroom, and it's in the railway section. It does follow the criteria, I think.
But I just want to make sure.

I don't have Vassal. :(

If you can post a picture it would help. Currently all tiles have been made by Christopher West. Was it made by him or a third party?

How do you post an image on Vassal? I can't copy/paste it.
Oh, but I do see that it was made by him.

Is this the one? It's from the Railway Station tiles set. (West/MapsofMastery)

Oh wow, I don't think I've ever seen that one, but it is an instant and emphatic NO!

The stalls are a ridiculous fortress that you could abuse in so many ways. If it were legal, I guarantee it would be the world champion tile.

As it is now, every year a different tile has won, and I think that is awesome.

This tile is so good I don't see how you could not consider using it every time.

I don't see it stated explicitly anywhere, but some of the tiles are 5x8 instead of 5x7 like the rules say. I assume the 5x8 tiles use all 40 squares, right? You don't have to block out the back 5 squares, do you?

My bad, I updated the initial post on Gamers, and I thought I did here, but I guess not. It's all up to date now.

and YES, all 40 squares are fine to use in the legal 5x8 tiles. It proved not to be a problem at all

Yeah, that's it. I didn't think that it was legal, even though I wanted to try it out a bit...

It's kinda funny. When Bill Hazel won the tile wars championship a couple years ago he got a special box the held a squad then folded out into a placement area for a tile game....that was 5x7 lol!

lol actually i have adjusted how i make the box to allow for a 5x8 tile. I dont play on them for tile wars myself, but i do know that other people do. THe One jake got this year allows for the 5x8's.

I was trying to refresh my memory on legal/illegal tiles and make sure there weren't any rules I was forgetting but couldn't find this thread without a lot of digging. Would it make sense for threads like this, Royal Rumble/Battle Royale, Epic 500 etc. to get stickies and put somewhere (a specific forum) where they could be easily accessed? Either that or just a stickied thread that lists links to the specific threads?

Oh, and I can't wait for Tile Wars in Chicago!

Sorry Shawn, you beat me to it. I just dug up the thread on gamers and sent it to you via FB. Lol.

Anyway-
Great idea. Actually I might ask Daniel (Echo) if he'll host the rules on SWMResources when it's back up. It seems like the perfect spot.

Can't wait to have you there!

For those who haven't seen one of these boxes, they are quite amazing. This is a pic of last year's tile box for the GenCon TILE WARS champion.

Chris and Amanda rule!
