I'd better not take a third. If any of my squads do well, it will run into when I might start possibly working again, and my schedule will absolutely be up in the air. I should always be able to fit in a game or 2 a week, but 3 could be pushing it. Especially with a different work schedule than most

Work on building your squads. I'll have the bracket up within the next day.

Here's the bracket:

https://challonge.com/PowerCreepCancellation

I randomized the seeds and then for players with more than one squad I used the following process to put their squads on opposite sides of the bracket:

1. Find a player with two squads on the same side of the bracket. Take their second squad.
2. Look on the other side of the bracket and find the first squad that can be swapped without creating another conflict. Swap those two squads.

As it turned out, the randomization worked pretty well and I only had to do one swap like that to get everyone's squads on opposite sides. (Except Jason's, since he has 3 and that would be impossible.)

I am seeing a major concern - lockouts.

The set combos are not even in door control, and without it some sets are doomed to auto loss is their opponents go that direction.

Ignore it and see what happens are make a rule to balance it?

Pretty much every set combo has at least some door control. It's something you're going to have to build around by playing a faction with access to door control (and something the people who have sent in their squads already have presumably already built around, so a bit too late to change it). At least 10/18 combos have access to Fringe Override, Satchel Charge or Advanced Door Gimmick.

Lol - I'm paired up vs the Kiernans first round.

Set designers - I am noticing a trend (which I freely admit I am guilty of too)

Who ended up taking a set they designed on?

1 of the 2 pairings I selected had a set I worked on (Vset 10). I must admit, nostalgia was part of it.

Interestingly, then it was the WotC part of that squad that came together easily, and I had to shoehorn in Vset 10 pieces.

I was cursing myself for often striving (and apparently also succeeding) to design power 7 characters. Not the best for this format. I still contend good for the game overall, but in this case . . . let's just say I was amused by the irony. LOL

13 was one of mine. I also noted difficulty fitting in the pieces with the power combos of the WOTC set.

I did. I designed on both of the sets. Although for one of them, I ended up going with pieces I didn't have much input on. For the other, I'll play pieces where I had a lot to do with the design but hadn't played them much.

If you want to go ahead and play your first-round match-up, feel free. I'm not going to post the squads and set a deadline until I get the last two squad submissions, but if you and your opponent want to get a head start, feel free to do so.

I did end up with that route, but I also looked at multiple other squads possibilities (i built 4 squads total that were different factions, and could easily see a 5th or even more being both possible and competitive)

Randy and I played

Universe/Rise to power vs Rebel Storm/Power of the Darkside

Randy got off to the early lead with a levitated Traya plus double Drain to get Rea Sloane, then followed it up with a levitate triple to get the nighsister witch. After that, not much went right for Randy. Thrawn and the Guards he borrowed from the First Order finally caught up and just soaked up the damage. Randy did manage to drop the First Order Officer before his guys succumbed.

Final Score 230-77 Universe Wins.
