Mando wins vs Thereisnotry final score 174-18. 3pt win for Mando, 0pt for tint.

It was Trevor vs Trevor and Vong vs Vong.

My squad was:
http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/221535/lah-and-order

--Lah and Order--
19 Warrior Caste Subcommander
18 Praetorite Vong Priest
17 Domain Lah Subaltern
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
14 Yorik-et Pilot
12 Shamed Pilot
50 Domain Lah Warrior x5
5 Porg

(150pts. 12 activations)

Thereisnotry's squad was:
http://www.bloomilk.com/Squad/223267/nu--qued-whacks

--NU--Qued-whacks--
80 Yuuzhan Vong Hunter on Quednak x4
18 Praetorite Vong Priest
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
13 Glitterstim Dealer
11 Advance Agent, Officer
5 Caamasi Noble
5 Zonoma Sekot Scout
3 Ugnaught Demolitionist

(150pts. 11 activations)

I won map roll and picked Starport District which is a good map for the Lah Warriors as i found out in my match against Darth O earlier in the tournament. This match was almost a mirror match of the one i had against Darth O, except this time i was running a varriant of Lah Warriors and thereisnotry was running an almost identical squad to my Glitter Vong. I know how good those Quednacks can be and if i was running any other squad I'd have had some serious issues. But this was just a bad matchup because the Lah Warriors have good hp, 8 speed and rolling cleave + i stole the AA's CE to add to my team. I ended up blast bugging a Quednack and his Yammosk while the other quednaks fell to some more Lah Warriors. my save rolls were very good also and i won inits when they counted. I have been on the other side of this matchup as i faced a very similar situation using my Quednaks against Darth O's Lah warriors so i know how frustrating it can be. Good game and thanks thereisnotry for putting together this tournament!

I assumed part of the reason 20pt cap was put into place was to avoid the Subcommander.

Well crap.....i didn't know about those errata's. i was going off purely the bloomilk squad builder as its usually up to date. they increased the cost for klat assasin to 17 in the past so why haven't the domain Lah and warrior commander's cost been increased?

Can we just let this match slide? i don't think the outcome would have been much different if i had to take out the commander with the blast bugs CE. i could have put in the Vong commander that gave out double attack instead.

We seriously need to make sure all errata's are reflected in the Bloomilk squad builder. We have control over bloomilk now and we can make updates. They have been reflected in bloomilk before (see Klat Assassin for example). I don't feel its fair to invalidate my victory for me for not knowing the errata change when i haven't played the game actively until just this past year and wasn't playing when the errata was released.

I agree with Mando. If the actual costs of characters have changed (as they have for the Subcommander and the Lah Warriors), then those cost changes really do need to be reflected in the squad builder. I had no idea these pieces had a different cost than the printed cost.

I'm not talking about programming all of the Rapport cost adjustments into the squad builder, because I recognize that can be tricky for programming. I'm simply talking about when there are adjustments to the printed costs.

Yeah that stinks. I see why Mando would have missed that.

I wanted to play the Subcommander myself, but knew the change and that he was over the limit.

Tint is the TO, and the TO always has the power to make these calls, so it sounds like this will stand as is.

I too wish that it was in Bloomilk squadbuilder. It’s tough when we are 3 steps removed from anyone active in the game who controls the website.

I think we all should emphasize at every tournament that folks should be up to date on the errata. I don’t blame anyone here, as I too would assume after an absence in the game that Bloo is up to date (at least in printed card costs). It has been 4 years since that ruling, one would assume it had been updated in the squadbuilder.

But from now on I will make sure everyone knows they need to read the errata. It’s only a page, it’s not overwhelming, but players might not even really know to do that.

http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=20395

Sorry it happened, but at least this is a fun casual tournament and really not a big deal.

That's correct: as TO I think I will let it stand. Neither of us knew there was an error. Especially since I'm the only player who is actually hurt by it (it's not like I'm making someone else stick with an incorrect Loss). Even if he didn't have his Subaltern, (ie, if his squad was only 131pts instead of 150), I still would've been slaughtered in this matchup.

It really does need to be fixed on the squadbuilder. I remember being surprised when I saw that Jango Mandalore's defense buff was changed from the +4 on his card to the +2 on BM...you'd think that if that change could happen then it would be just as easy to fix some Costs. Ugh.

8 R7 Astromech Droid
6 Klatooinian Black Sun Thug

We played on Starport Terminal

Long story short - I hadn't played Uvaks, and it was the last week. We both knew I'd play Uvaks, and both knew we both knew that. That said - I don't think an Uvak counter-counter is any better than Uvaks in this program. So I did. And he played Wookiees which match up well. Not quite well enough. A few key inits both ways were big. I did a battering charge, he killed my uvk. Rinse and repeat x 4. I was able to take out 1 Wookiee without an Uvak (radian and the Kel-dor), and that was key. He killed my last Uvak in the final round. My Recruits were clutch doing the last 20 damage.

since i hadn't played Uvaks all tournament and this was my last chance to use them, i went ahead and used my uvak squad. they played pretty nice but against vong they needed some good placement to win and some bad rolls for the armor. Big key play was in 2nd round where i battering charged one Uvak and took out his advance agent officer. no more cunning was big! that uvak latter was able to survive due to some bad attack rolls (jason needed 8's to hit). The game was a melee smash and one of his Vong got into my side and took out my sith ordinance guy which was really smart as i gave up all my aoo's to that point to avoid damaging him. urban unfortunately made his VCA save and he didn't get damaged by the sd 10. that would have been huge if he'd failed it! he'd have taken out 1 of my uvaks if he'd gotten scarred. One of his uggies landed a nice hit on my uvak that did the deep strike to take out his AA and brought it down to 20hp. later one of my uvaks took out his priest and it was kinda game over then. In the end, i had 3 uvaks still alive: one had 40hp, another had 20hp and the third had 10hp. the match could have definetly been closer if those 2 uvaks had died if not for the bad atttack rolls. i tried my best to take out the tech that makes the vong so good and that did help in the end. I did have a massassi mutant take a swing at a Lah Warrior and do 40 with the sith weapon upgrade from the alchemist which was cool. Jason had a good squad, he just didn't expect uvaks and so it wasn't the ideal matchup. Well played match by Jason tho! Good game!

League Structure
--League ranking will be according to the following criteria: Total Match Points scored (i.e., 3pts for a full win, 2pts for a partial win, etc), then by the number of Wins (whether full or partial), then by Total Score (the max score for any game will be 150pts, to prevent people from trying for something like a big 198pt overkill score). If players are still tied after that, then the player who played more different factions will rank higher.
--After the final week of play has concluded, we will cut to a Top 8, Top 4, or perhaps a Top 2 (depending on the number of participants) for a regular single-elimination playoff round.

2 things

- Was it announced what we are cutting to? (I assume 4 but I don't know if it was stated)

- It looks like Head-to-Head is missing in the the ranking criteria. Was that intentional or an oversight? Head-to-head is actually more relevant than ever in a round robin format as you will always have played someone. Then total score would come up in a 3 way tie where A beat B, B beat C and C beat A.

The Round Robin portion of this league has completed! Thank you, everyone, for playing.

Here are the final standings:
Quote:
1st - Timmerb123 14pts, 5-2 (822)
2nd - Mando 14pts, 5-2 (829)
3rd - FlyingArrow 13pts, 4-3 (767)
4th - Darth O 13pts, 4-3 (809))
5th - DarkDrakul 12pts, 4-3 (718)
6th - urbanjedi 11pts, 3-4 (785)
7th - thereisnotry 9pts, 2-5 (728)
8th - urbanshmi 2pts, 0-7 (362)

I've checked the head-to-head results, and the standings above are correct (Tim beat Mando and TJ beat Oliver in the round robin).

Our playoffs are a pretty straight-forward Top 4 cut with a semi-final (1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd) this week and then a final next week, or earlier if the players are up for that. (Perhaps the SHNN might want to have a live commentary on the finals match?)

Playoffs: Top 4 Cut
Semi-Final (February 27 - March 5)
1st (TimmerB123) vs 4th (Darth O)
2nd (Mando) vs 3rd (FlyingArrow)

Final (March 6-12)
tbd...

FOR THE PLAYOFFS:
--All faction choices are reset for the first round of the playoffs. So yes, you can play any faction in the Semi-Final, regardless of what faction you used for your match last week. However, pay attention, because you will not be able to use the same faction in Final, that you use in the Semi-Final.
--The squad-building restriction limit of 1 character whose name contains "BX" in your squad remains active.
--Uvaks are still banned. Don't use 'em!

The odds were stacked in my favour from the beginning, as we realised before we started that the Caamasis meant that the Death Watch characters couldn't gain twin from the Strike Leaders. To make matters worse, I made 99.99% of my saves.

Round 2: Tim blocked the middle doorway with Caamasis, but I was able to get a plasma eel off without LOS to any other characters. One of them failed the save. He quickly replaced that one with his 3rd one to continue to block the middle doorway. The Assassin gets a grenades on 3 of my Warriors, but all 3 make their save. Tim is able to kill all of my uggies, but not before they blow up a door each.

Round 3: I manage to get another plasma eel off to kill one more Caamasi, which still left one non-DW unit to deny the twin attack CE. I kill all three Saboteurs and a Raider, thanks to Rolling Cleave. Tim is able to kill a Warrior with considerable effort, thanks to good crab armour saves.

Round 4: I win init and use Rolling Cleave to take out the remaining Raider and Assassin, thanks to abysmal Beskar saves. From here the game is just a bunch of twin attacks from both sides. Eventually I finish off the Strike Leaders and Armourer with time to spare.

Winning map roll helped, as I'm not sure I would have been able to find the plasma eel LOS's to clear the path on Rhen Var. However, not having twin attack severely limited Tim's damage output, so I was always going to be able to advance my Warriors into striking distance.

final score was 151-54 i do beleive. i got a few rounds of gambit and did take out at least 1 ranger and the covenant sentinel. TJ's squad just had too much defense for me to reliably hit.
