I wanted to write a little something that Matt Francella, aka "Jedicartographer" may or may not see, but nonetheless, needs to be written. This man has created hundreds of maps for all types of miniature games, but I will talk about his maps that have made an incredible and undeniable impact and permanent imprint on our beloved game, Star Wars Miniatures! Someone else can chime in with official stats, such as # of maps in SWM's and the number of Restricted maps, etc., that he has created over the years. So let me just say that his maps are just amazing, incredible, surreal, exquisite, detailed, vivid, and as real as it gets, unless you are talking 3-D type maps or maps with attached physical terrain and such. His creativity has been off the charts with all his maps, and he has dedicated a huge chunk of his life in bringing his visions to life with his map creations. I'll call him the "Miniatures Map Making God", as he is just truly the best at it, imho. He's at least in the conversation as the "best map miniature maker" of all time. I have bought 7 of his 9 created map packs ( missing map packs #1 & 2 ) and I do not have the "Sith Temple" map that he created as a one off special map for GenCon in 2011. Words do not do justice for this man's greatness in map making. I am saddened to hear ( according to his FB posts) that he will no longer make anymore map packs. As all good things come to an end, as I feel that life teaches us, I know that my lamenated Jedicartographer SMW maps will live on for me for the rest my life. So with a heavy heart, I say to thee Matt, thank you sir for the amazing and fantastic maps you have created for so many years for SWM. You are the man, and always will be in my mind. Thanks for all that you've done/contributed, as it will all echo for an eternity. May the Force be with you, always...................................
