We are always a bit confused on how stacking and stat bonuses interact and I was wondering if there's a thread somewhere that goes into this in better detail. Or maybe this thread could serve as such.

For example, I know that two named abilities (like cunning attack) will not stack. But Cunning Attack with, say, Talon Karrde's blanket +4/+10 would stack (giving you +8/+20).

But there are other times I understand that certain bonus will NOT stack. And I am unclear about when those things don't stack. My understanding is that when things are not named, they would not stack. If for example a CE grants X +4 attack, and another CE grants +4/+10 (Talon Karrde as an example,) in this situation you would only get one of the +4 attacks.

Can anyone offer any guidance or point me to where this has already been discussed?

You're right so far. 2 straight bonuses to the same stat from a CE will not stack. However, if you have a straight bonus from a CE and one from a Synergy, those will stack. Two synergies (because they are the same named ability) do not stack. Two differently named abilities, even if they affect the same stats (say Assassin and Jedi Hunter) will stack.

As for why, I think "because Wotc said so" is probably the best you're gonna get.

Here are a few characters that I am curious about in regards to stacking

A - Mon Mothma, Mother of the Rebellion:
Commander Effect
Rebel allies get +10 Damage while within 6 squares of a Unique Rebel ally with Diplomat.

B - Princess Leia, Rebel Commando:
Commander Effect
Unique Rebel allies within 6 squares get +10 Damage while this character is wounded.

C - Princess Leia
Commander Effect
At the end of this character's turn, 1 Rebel follower within 6 squares can make 1 immediate attack at +4 Attack and +10 Damage.

I think A+B would not stack since they're nearly the same thing, but one says Diplomat and once is "when this character is wounded," so that could read like two different abilities. Unless the +10 damage is the only relevant part?

Then the question is would A+C or B+C stack? I believe the answer to this is yes.

Thoughts?

These would not stack as they are all just a straight damage boost from a ce.

If getting the free attack from Princess Leia you would also get the +4 attack

Thanks. So the logic is something like: [CE:+10dmg] does not stack with [CE:+10dmg], but if it were something like [CE:+10dmg]+[CE: Cunning] it would work.

That is exactly correct.
