UrbanShmi over spryguy1981 197-112 (3-1) on Gangster's Vault

I set up in the usual place on the left. I had gotten in some practice and knew I had a potential long line into his starting room, so I was trying to set that up, but of course I messed up the placement and left R2 exposed, and he got killed. Not a great start, but I was determined to come back from it. Then I stupidly killed the ugnaught who was holding the middle door open. Brain not engaged quite yet. Spry had gambit at the end of round 1 and I did not, so he took an 18-0 lead.

Spry won the round 2 init and snared Ahsoka, so she just spun and got her force. Kanan took a couple of shots on Aurra, putting 40 on her. Ezra coordinated with him to move out but couldn't see anything, and then ran behind the wall. Asajj Charged in and killed him. Cad and Todo moved up, Todo locked the door, and the score was 49-12.

Spry won another init and Mon intuitioned away from Asajj, which likely saved her life. Asajj tried to attack Kanan instead, landing one hit before he counterpushed her. Sabine moved out and thorium charged the central door, clearing the path for Kanan to finish off Aurra. Ahsoka used the coordinated movement to get a little closer. Cad moved up and hit Kanan twice (he didn't have enough force to counterpush again) for 60. Ahsoka made a move on Asajj with Assault and the damage boost from Mon, putting 90 on her. Greedo tried to damage Kanan and rolled a 1. Bail decided to take his attack out for a spin, giving up his diplomatic immunity, and put 20 on Todo. At the end of the round, Kanan was adjacent to Greedo, Moralo, Cad, and Todo, and the score was 58-54.

Round four I finally won an init, which was lucky, as Kanan would have been dead otherwise. Kanan was distracted by Moralo and forgot to blaster barrage, so he just put 60 on Cad. Cad tried and failed to Hostage Shield onto Greedo. Cad took his 20-hp and flew away, and Asajj put 60 on Ahsoka. Ahsoka saw an opportunity and flipped away, using her activating force point to kill Todo and Rolling Cleave into Greedo, killing him, too. Sabine threw he nasty grenades at Asajj, killing her as well. Advantage Shmi, 128-67.

Going into Round 5, all he had left was a 20-HP Cad Bane and Moralo Eval. I won init and Ahsoka took out Cad. Moralo Eval rolled just high enough to take out Kanan and secure the point for Spry. Sabine threw more grenades and Eval failed his save. Bail finished him off and that was game.

Really fun match. If I don't win that critical init it goes very differently for Spry, or if his save rolls had been a little better. Looking forward to the growing of our squads. Good game as always!

thereisnotry defeats Mando 235-100 (3-1)

We both had the Jungle Tomb map and Mando won the map roll so I set up on the right side.

Round 1 was just positioning, since neither of us has any pesky shooters.

Round 1: Just positioning, since neither of us had any pesky shooters. San pushed Maul forward, who then ended the round in gambit. Naga reached gambit thanks to Intuition. 9-9.

Round 2: Mando won init. Intuition brought Naga forward. Exar used LS Assault to attack Maul 4x, needing 9s to hit. After a Sith Recruit sacrifice, Maul had taken a total of 40dmg (down to 100hp). Maul attacked Naga, hitting 3 (down to 70hp). Both Mutants charged at Maul, and one of them hit (Maul at 80hp). San pushed Grievous forward, who then did a fancy Spinning Blade attack that hit all 4 of Mando's main attackers...well, "hit" isn't really the word..."attempted" is more accurate. After the whole mess was finished, only the Mutants had taken any damage. Naga sent Maul back home. Asajj killed a Mutant. My BX Infiltrator advanced, but that was dumb because it allowed Sidious to dominate Exar, who then diced the droid. Gambit for both. 61-32 for Mando.

Round 3: I won init. Naga intuition'd to safety. Grievous then tried again, killing the other Mutant and Kneesaa, and putting 50 onto Exar via a crit. Exar leaped and attacked Asajj, but she parried both. Sidious dominated Exar, and she parried 3 of the next 4 attacks...insane! (down to 80hp). Asajj crit and hit Exar (down to 30hp). Naga put 20dmg onto Grievous (failed parry, made the Poison save). San pushed Maul, who then deleted Exar. Exar Ghost appeared in his place, and all of my force points were effectively eliminated for the rest of the game. Gambit for both. 122-70 for me.

Round 4: Mando won init. Exar turned on Dark Aura, then after a sacc'ed XT-6, Naga hit Grievous hard enough to send him home. Maul ambushed Sidious, then Asajj finished him off. San pushed Grievous forward, who then ran back up to Naga: "Hey, remember me?" Gambit for both. 153-100 for me.

Round 5: Mando won init. Naga hit Asajj for 40dmg (made one of the parries, so down to 40hp). Grievous slammed into Naga for 60dmg after 2 failed Illusion saves (save 20 due to Dark Aura...down to 10hp). Asajj then finished him off, and the ghost was expelled immediately. Gambit for me. 235-100 for me.

Once again, Grievous' attack dice were laughable. But this time my parry saves were insane, and that proved to be a big difference-maker. Asajj should've been wrecked by that double-activation from Exar in Round 3, but she was lucky. Thanks for playing, Mando! Best of luck to you for the rest of the tournament.

gandalf defeats DarthMaim 175-101 (3-1) on Cloud City

I won map and picked mine. Mel took the left and brought in the Advance Agent Officer to give out Cunning.

Round 1 we progressed towards the middle. R2 towed Yaddle into gambit and Denua Ku pushed Vua Rapuung with Tracking so he made it too. 9-9

Round 2, Mel won init and made me go first. I spun Tarpals. The AA Officer opened a door, then Vua came through and dropped Yaddle to 10HP. Yaddle did not blink (didn't want to die to Counterattack) and Kneesaa came over to block a square next to her. Mel blew up a door and moved Dooje. Then Doombot towed Coleman and opened a door for him. Coleman moved in and assaulted twice, defeating Denua Ku and dealing 40dam to Vongerella (missed Retaliatory and failed Defense). Coleman also took an AoO from Vongerella so he had 40HP. Vongerella tried Plaeryin Bol for the kill but he made the save, and then Khalee whiffed two attacks into him. Yoda went after Vua, who promptly failed every Counterattack and VCA 6 save (rolling 7, 1, 2, 4) so Yoda was able to kill him with an extra LS Throw. Yo'gand finally took out Coleman, and Saesee came up next to Doombot. 71-32

Round 3, Mel won init. Yo'gand strolled up and deleted Doombot and my Spaarti, finally rolling something decent. Saesee assaulted him twice and hit them all needing 3s, Yo'gand made 3 armour saves so had 40HP. Yaddle retreated. Dooje came up to distract Saesee, and Yoda spent 2 force to get next to Yo'gand and rolled a crit to finish him off in style. Khalee ran past Saesee to base Yaddle and Saesee rolled another crit on the AoO. Vongerella hit Saesee for 20. 127-46

Round 4, Mel won init. Khalee finished Yaddle and hit Saesee for 10. Saesee killed Vongerella and Yoda finished Khalee. Yoda attempted a war crime against the diplomat Dooje, but he made an Evade. In revenge the Vong scrubs went after Kneesaa. The Scout rolled a 1, but the Officer finished the princess. Gambit took me to 175 exactly.

Sometimes minis feels more like a game of dice than skill and this was one of those games- the Vong could hardly ever roll above a 5 when it mattered, while the Jedi had crits coming out of their green ears. Mel still clawed back a point with his determination.

What destiny is dictating so far after 2 rounds, is that the 2 Vong teams will most likely meet each other in the 4th round, to determine which Vong team is the best Vong team of the GE Spring 2026 tourney. May the best Vong team win! May the Force immunity be with you! Flapper

Sorry to disappoint you Maim, but...
Lightsaber defeats Hi-Fives 176-75 (92) (3-0 (1)) on the Domain Lah Warrior's Enclave.
This one was much closer than the score dictates, as the Vong had about 50pts of pure support hiding in the back, so Fives actually killed almost the entire squad.

I 'win' map roll, and Fives sets up on the right. Vongerella decides to come along for the ride, the large spider in the background becomes a lightsaber trainer (LS Prec CE), Tsavong gets the entire military budget of the United States added to his arsenal, and Kol haunts the Barabel pair.

Round 1 was predictably just movement as neither of us had crazy movement breakers. Krasov and Bela manage to stick their little toe into the magic yellow zone in the middle, 8-0

Round 2: I continue my streak of losing initiatives and Bela&Krasov Roll through an Advance Scout and put 40 on Tsavong. Vongerella uses science to fry them for 20, and Tsavong runs the pair over with an M1 Abrams tank before making a tactical retreat behind a corner; 50hp after Yun-Yammka. Kol evaporates. Fives' ugna run around in the background, I spend like 5 minutes trying to find a way to throw a bug at one before giving up and spinning the commanders in the back. Ganner floats Mara into the Eminence Harrar, who dies very quickly (again, I forgot that the devotion was only shooting...). Khalee drives his Panzerkampfwagen over to squish Mara, but misses the second attack, leaving her on 70. Luke finally decides his apprentices need some help and Speeds 12 squares to hit Khalee for 30 after Carb armor. Dooje runs next to him to mock him. Fives is still in gambit and I'm still fighting my way in, 52-40 to Lightsaber

Round 3: Consistency is key, which is why I intentionally roll a one and politely let Fives control the first activation. Mara goes berzerk and hits/crits Khalee and crits the Zonoma scout next to him. Tsavong runs out from his hiding spot and dropkicks Mara off the board, Cleaving into Luke. I also remember that I can move Vongerella with the cool Consul CE - the only time I've remembered it this Escalation! My second activation was the amazing tactical play of throwing a Thud Bug at Luke, preventing him from attacking... but obviously he made the save. However, he was slightly rattled and ended up rolling a 1, missing an attack on the 30hp Vongerella. Ganner swings at Vongerella and misses, and the surprisingly beefy Consul punishes him for trying. Dooje politely lets an ugnaught through to swing at Tsavong. I still haven't managed to get into gambit, 85-75 to Lightsaber

Round 4: I finally win initiative, and Tsavong flattens Ganner and Cleaves into Luke, Luke on 60. Luke turns and kills Vongerella , only to realise she is worth absolutely nothing. Then a very wise wizard steps in and boosts Vongerella's self-esteem, giving Fives the 17 points. In Retaliation, Tsavong lightly taps an Ugnaught and Cleaves into Luke again, leaving him on 30hp. Luke has one more attack to defeat the 30hp Tsavong... but misses the all-important crit and gets cleaned up by the Consul. Round ends with the Vong victoriously entering the centre of the map, 176-75 to Lightsaber

One of the most imporant moments of the game would be Luke's massive fumble in Round 3, allowing Vongerella to stick around for an extra round. Fives' squad is built around fun abilities and commander effects that allow many fun Lightsaber tricks, but the Vong are no fun and don't let any of that happen. Thankfully I'm the only Vong player in the Outer Rim, so I predict the next few rounds will see a strong showing from the Jedi! Thanks for the game Fives!

I don't think this is correct.

I don't recall how characters added via CE score, but I would think that vongrella would be worth points. It is possible that the 8th cortex shaper is worth less points (2 in this case 19-17) or it is possible that they are both worth their normal appropriate costs.

Edit: I am incorrect here and vongerella isn't worth any points.

Vongerella is 17 pts and Eighth Cortex Shaper is worth only 2 pts.

Not that I don't think Fives deserves the point, but the re-enforcement is worth nothing. See Gandalf's comment on http://www.bloomilk.com/Character/1793/eighth-cortex-shaper

This is the most recent ruling. Vongerella, brought in by the Eighth Cortex Shaper, is worth the full 17 pts

The character added by the Eighth Cortex Shaper's CE is treated the same way Reinforcements used to work (not worth points, doesn't change the point value of the character who brings it in, can't score gambit, doesn't have to be defeated to win the skirmish, and does not count towards the cost of your squad).

That's because the Shaper's CE was designed to work like Reinforcements did in 2017, and the balance committee did not include it in its 2021 change (which specifically only affects special abilities whose names contain Reinforcements).

Glossary for this commander effect (from the design thread, not sure if it was ever posted on bloomilk):
Quote:
After set-up, you may add one additional Yuuzhan Vong character under this character's cost to your squad. Place the chosen character adjacent to this character. The chosen character must not have the Outsider special ability. The chosen character doesn’t count toward the cost of your squad, and your opponent doesn’t have to defeat them to win the skirmish. If you are scoring points for defeats, or in a tiebreaker, defeating the chosen character doesn’t score points.
