Whenever I look at a piece I always look at it in terms of power rankings. So Luke Skywalker, for instance, should be at the top of the list. His mini piece should represent that in terms of game playability. So, in my eyes if Luke Skywalker is top 5 most powerful ever, he should be able to be played competitively, like any time. and how powerful they are should impact the squad in that way. (great example of this is in action is Princess Leia, only 20 points but impacts the game tremendously, powerful stuff. a bad example of this would be Ozzel. Ozzel? who the heck is that guy? why does he control entire games?)

Sidious, the same way. Not just that his individual piece is fantastic, but that he is able to be played and be super competitive.

So that is why Rebels is so cool. individually, not so great, but faction wise, crazy good.

anyway, so I would like to know what people's power ranking is.

I am going to throw out a list of SWM names and you rank them from most powerful to least powerful (this does not mean who wins in a 1 on 1, overall power. Like Dodonna can be more powerful than greedo, even though in a one on one fight Greedo might win). From their overall, prime position.

Cade Skywalker
Carth Onasi
Bossk
Jaina Solo
Inquisitor
Jabba the Hutt
Kyp Durron
Kylo Ren
Darth Malak
Dash Rendar

Kylo Ren - No doubt #1 here
Inquisitor - Not been in any top tier squads that I've seen, but there is potential
Kyp Durron - 90 hp, twin LS assault for 26pts? Not to shabby. Impulsive savagery hurts him of course. Not that great in today's age.
Cade Skywalker (didn't say which one, so I assumed the original. There is no simple "Cade Skywalker") - double twin, but no mobile, and expensive. Kinda old these days
Jaina Solo - back in the day - ok. Double cunning ain't bad. But of course her main role was always bringing Han into NR
Jabba the Hutt - Never that great, but always has potential with more fringe options. Of course he's overshadowed by the other 2 Jabbas
Bossk - obviously outclassed being from the first set. But double claw attack wasn't horrible back then.
Darth Malak - back in the day, he was stout at least, but never competitive. Now he just plain sucks
Carth Onasi - He was a stinker from day 1. Sure he has double twin, but for 10 damage!?! His set piece far surpassed him.
Dash Rendar - So horrible. Single attack and opportunist. Nothing else. Obviously his Renegade Smuggler version is amazing and would probably be #1 on this list. Even the not-so-great rebel version is miles ahead of this piece of garbage.

Sabine Wren - insane good. A key part to winning GenCon 2016.
Nobody named "Thrawn", so again I assume the original. Very powerful still, but overall outclassed by Mitthrawn. Still earns the #2 spot
Kylo Ren - drops to 3 with the new titans added.
Jyn Erso - the best of the Rogue Crew (assuming Cassian is along for the ride). Crushed Krennic and DTs in playtests
Orson Krennic (I assume this means Director Krennic) - More powerful than expected, in unforeseen combos. Needs to be watched carefully.
The Inquisitor - down to #5
Jabba the hutt (see above)
Han Solo - Great in Rebel Storm. So outclassed by almost every Han since
Bossk (see above)
Ahsoka Tano - Not a great piece from the start, worse now. Double and Flurry, but no movement. Lame.
Maz Kanata - I hate hate hate "I like that wookiee". Crap like that need not be made.

Ahsoka Tano 20pts

Hit Points: 60
Defense: 20
Attack: 7
Damage: 20

Unique
Melee Attack (Can attack only adjacent enemies)
Double Attack (On her turn, this character can make 1 extra attack instead of moving)
Flurry Attack (Whenever this character scores a critical hit, she can make 1 immediate extra attack)
Impulsive Sweep (If a Unique allied character is defeated, this character can immediately attack each adjacent enemy once)
Synergy (+4 Attack while an allied character whose name contains Anakin is within 6 squares)

Force Powers
Force 3
Lightsaber Deflect (Force 1: When hit by a nonmelee attack, this character takes no damage with a save of 11)

I do not understand why you think this is crazy powerful

Inquisitor
Han Solo
Thrawn
Jabba
Sabine
Krennic
Erso
Bossk
Kanata[/quote]

Hmmm. Been thinking and I think krennic should be jabba level and erso should be below boss. Han Solo had done many more time than the Inquisitor and is my number 2. New rank

Ahsoka
Han solo
Inquisitor
Thrawn
Jabba / Krennic
Sabine
Bossk
Erso
Kanata

That was not clear to me

Shouldn't this thread be in the off topic forum then?

What about this line? I thought this one made it pretty clear what we were discussing

You edited your post, it originally said, "Based on the characters effect in the Universe, not their representation in WM correct?"

I genuinely had no idea what WM meant. (Gentle ribbing for you Shmi!)

Honestly the OP is very unclear. Since the post really isn't about SWM, it probably should have been in the off topic forum, but it's not a big deal.

Regardless, I had fun ranking Star Wars miniatures stats.

Sincerely, enjoy ranking the characters in universe.

ThumbsUp

This is why it is about SWM.

The bolded parts explain why it is on topic.

In other, easier, words....
In my opinion, SWM pieces and abilities and interactions with other allies should be at the same impact as they have in the actual Star Wars verse.

So, Luke Skywalker impacted the Star Wars verse tremendously, he is at the very top.

Therefore, Luke Skywalker should impact Star Wars minis tremendously. He should be played a lot and competitively. he should be the face of New Republic

I think they should be the same.

Two Columns.

Ranking in the verse of star wars ------------------- Ranking as a SWM character

See what the difference is.
Like Ahsoka, she is my most powerful of the pieces, but your right, her SWM character is way on the bottom.

but what if we used the new Rebel Ahsoka?

i will freshen up the list tomorrow with the proper names of the SWM characters. probably not fair to use the old school Ahsoka.

I'd put SWM Rebel Ahsoka at #1. She's crazy good. Big difference between her first incarnation. (To be fair - in universe there was a huge difference in her power level between those parts of her life)

Heck I think her evolution is valid. First one sucks. The next one (commander Ahsoka) is playable (or at least she certainly was in the pre vset era. Giving out rolling cleave ain't too shabby.). And then Rebel bombshell.

She was still a teenager in first 2 (WotC) pieces. She became a much more competent commander by the period of her second SWM piece. But then she disappeared for awhile, and came back a kick ass jedi. So the huge jump in power level between her Republic pieces and her rebel piece is totally justified.

Rank these characters under two headings.

How the rank in terms of power as a SWM piece

How they rank in terms of overall power in the star wars realm (movies, books, comics)

Cad Bane
Thrawn (Mitth'raw'nuruodo)
Mace Windu, Legacy of the Light Side
General Skywalker
Captain Rex
Kanan Jarrus
Darth Maul, Death Watch Overlord
Han Solo with Bowcaster
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine
Kylo Ren
