Saw it with my boys last night and left the theatre wanting to go right back in and watch it again.
My eldest was thrilled with the imperial infantry, especially Han winding up there.

The name origin, the "monster" feeding, the Ardennian, the card games, Sing's fall, the Falcon's interior beauty/escape pod/L3 integration and total rough ride into "beater-ness", Enfys Nest, Maul's rule, Han's rebellion leadership and shooting first.

This movie was fun and not episodes I - III's heavy handed attempt at fun, but Rogue One's easy suspension of disbelief and high quality production kind of fun.

If you want to hate on this movie, I am truly sorry for you.

Yes, there were moments that weren't "perfect," but that's part of the whole wabi sabi.

Easily one of the best Star Wars movies, easily. It's exciting to think about the expansion of the universe from a reboot perspective. I don't know if any of you are reading the new literature, but it's great.

From a Certain Point of View

helps to establish the viewpoint of the new canon that Han is both a good guy and capable of the ruthless first shot... a concept that Lucas himself wasn't able to properly grasp or convey, even though he really wanted to. This movie went and did the same thing.

I can only hope that some minis come out of this. It'd be awesome to see the game get a reboot, but with a Legends aspect. You could play standard, minis that are within the new canon and listed standard and then expanded. This would work like how TCGs do it. With new design tech, I'm positive we'd get some amazing scultps. A guy can dream.

I don't get why the film critics don't like this movie (71% on Rotten Tomatoes)......and I was shocked by the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes being at 65% last time i checked. I loved this movie! loved the character development and it felt very much like star wars to me. Yeah it wasn't as action packed as many of the new era star wars movies are, but it felt more like the original trilogy movies to me. It had great action scenes when they needed to be shown! The Train heist is my favorite sequence in the film period! The war scenes with Han on Mimban were more war film-esque than the scenes from Rogue One which is shot in the style of a war film. I'm not saying Rogue One is bad at all (I rank that movie higher than this one), I'm just saying as far as the gritty nature of war is portrayed in films, Solo pulled it off well in showing basically trench warfare in a dark muddy world where guys are getting blasted left and right. Chewbaccca's intro was great! The music was great also! when Enfys Nest shows up for the first time, the music immediately evoked a sense of dread and suspense that heightened the tension in the train heist action sequence. I loved a lot about this movie! =)

And....

Maul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so glad they included him! was a huge suprise and it makes so much sense after you see his story in Clone Wars.

I'd rank this movie as #4 in my list of favorite star wars movies. My top 5 i would say right now is:
1.Empire Strikes Back
2.Rogue One
3.A New Hope
4. Solo
5. Return of the Jedi

I went to see it again last night and it was even better the second time. I actually might enjoy this more than Rogue One eventually because its more fun and less depressing. I love Rogue One, don't get me wrong, but Solo was very enjoyable.

That explosion at the end, right? That was pretty awesome!

Exactly on point. And while others have complained about Corellia's grit as a shipyard world, obviously no one has ever lived in a city that has a shipyard. Having lived there I numerous shipyard cities in my life, I really appreciated the grit. I'm sure that there may be nicer aspects of the world, but they aren't relevant to the story. The movie had a dark quality running through it, but lined with Han's sense of ridiculous optimism and cockiness. It's energizing.

My Stars Wars/Marvel loving librarian and I were talking about the media coverage and the feedback regarding the movie. It just doesn't make sense. He figures it's the toxic fanboy base that don't want anything to change and are tied to an obsession about the old EU.

Glad to hear there's another solid fan of the movie out there!

Lando mentioned it. Thanked Beckett since he owed her money.

Sweet bone thrown out there for the Hardcore geeks like us.

Never would've thought of casting Woody Harrelson is one of the most bad ass gunslingers in the galaxy.

And the dude crushed it!!!

No, he pushed her, the fall did the rest. Drool

The film was great.

I think it generally gets low scores because you're following one of the most iconic actors of the 80's and 90's in arguably his best role.

However, i thought it was all on point. I totally got lost in it and Alden does the right stances and mannerisms to carry off a young solo. The story kept shifting and they pulled the trigger on more characters than I thought and I loved the Lando/Han Sabacc dynamic clarifying the grudging respect between the two.

I'm hearing rumors that these Star Wars Story tales are canceled.

This thoroughly disappoints me. More than the story itself, the environment of star wars always excites me. Give me lashings of the cantina, alien-filled casinos and the dark foreboding of the Sith and I'll watch for hours. Especially when it's well done.

and Solo was very well done.

Disney/ Lucasfilm are looking at some changes and how to better manage the franchise going forward.
Apparently, A "mos eisley space cantina" film was canceled and its resources redirected towards Episode 9.
However, the Obi-Won and Boba movies are still in production. The Star Wars trilogy by the Game of Thrones guys and Rian Johnson's new trilogy are still being planned and Jon Favreau is still working on a live action star wars series for Disney's new streaming service.

Sounds like all around good news for those of us who want these films . . . and for Disney to do better.

Nobody mentioned Teras Kasi yet?

Also, Droid rights was a plot thread from Fate of the Jedi.
