Welcome to Galactic Escalation Fall 2025! V-set 28 will be legal for play and we will be playing on the restricted map list. Depending on how many players register, we are going to continue the use of Divisions to encourage more people to join and for the tournament to go a little quicker. Open to suggestions as always for ways to improve this format!
Hope you all can join!
Rules: Each participant makes an initial 125pt team following normal squad building rules. Rounds 1-4 will consist of matchups between all participants in round robin in your division and a random matchup with a player (or players) from the other division. The 125pt team used will be built upon in subsequent rounds. The point totals for this tournament will be the following: --Round 1: 125 pts --Round 2: 175 pts --Round 3: 125 pts --Round 4: 375 pts --Playoff Rounds: 375 pts
Reinforcements: If you use a Reinforcements piece, you must submit your list of reinforcements along with your squad information for that round.
Rapport: If you use a piece with Rapport, you don't get to benefit from it in reverse. It only applies to mini's added in the current round and in subsequent rounds. If you don't have someone with Rapport in round 1, but add one in latter in round 2, Rapport doesn't apply to any minis from the previous round's build. For example: Round 1 you have a 100pt squad of 25pt ERC's Sev, Fixer, and Scorch with 25pt Republic Commando Atin. If you add in 26pt ERC Boss in and 24pt (because he does get rapport from Atin) Republic commando Fi for round 2, you don't get Rapport -2 for ERC's Sev, Fixer, or Scorch because ERC Boss wasn't present when they were a squad build. Likewise, Atin doesn't benefit from Rapport -1 since RC Fi wasn't in the squad at the time he was included. Any further ERC's and Omega Squad RC's would benefit from Rapport -2 or -1 in future rounds 3 and 4. So in conclusion, if you want to benefit from Rapport, add in the character with rapport as early as you can to fully benefit from it when escalating from round 1-4.
Maps: We will be playing using the maps on the Restricted list (you may change your map before every round of the tournament, if you wish): Desert Palace #160 Dark Academy #99 Anchorhead #88 Theed Palace #77 Throne Room #22 Korriban #49
Banned list: No piece is banned (well, other than Admiral Daala, because she is still in the bin of eternal darkness and continually pleads for mercy from the Balance Committee). However, Tulak Horde loses Soresu Style Mastery during the first round (125pts) of the tournament. Yes, he is being considered for some...reprogramming...at the moment. It could be that his usage or performance here might provide more data or input for what needs to be done with him (same thing for the Dark Force Nexus and a bunch of other pieces). Tulak is most unreasonable at 125pts, where it is difficult to build a squad that can deal with both his SSM and his Sith Reflexes, so he will simply lose SSM in the 125pt battles. After that, Tulak can be played as normal.
Banking/Saving Points for Subsequent Rounds: If you wish to save or bank points, you may carry over up to 10pts into the next round's build total. This is the only exception to adding 50pts in round 2 & 3, giving you up to 60pts instead if either Round 1 build total is 115-124pts and Round 2 build total is 165-174pts.
The amount of time for each match in Rounds 1-3 is 75 minutes. For the Round 4 match you will have 90 minutes, since the squads will be bigger and probably more complex. For each Round of the tournament, once I post the matchups, you will have 1 week to schedule and play your game with your opponent. If you anticipate that Darth Real Life will prevent you from playing your game within that time-frame, please send me a BM asap so that we can see what needs to be done. In the unlikely case that Darth Real Life is messing with both players' ability to play so badly that they cannot schedule a game within the week time-frame, it is possible that both players will be volunteered as Tribute (i.e., receive a Loss) so that the tournament can move forward. Note: If all matches end up being completed before the week is complete, then I'll post the next round's matchups early, just so that we can keep things moving and perhaps save some time in the long run...however, if this accelerated schedule ends up causing Darth Real Life to intervene for you then please let me know via BM and I'll be sure to take that into account.
Round 1: 125pts Round 2: 175pts (use exact team from round 1 + 50pts of new miniatures. You may choose to upgrade 1 unique character from the previous round to one that has a higher cost and counts as the same character, following faction rules, to be a part of the 50 additional points) Round 3: 225pts (use exact same team from round 2 + 50pts of new miniatures. You may choose to upgrade 1 unique character from the previous round to one that has a higher cost and counts as the same character, following faction rules, to be a part of the 50 additional points) Round 4: Challenger approaching! 225pts + 150pts (this 150pts is for 2 to 3 regular non-epic minis totaling up to 150pts). You use exact same team from round 3 + whatever 2-3 miniatures you use for the 150 additional points. You may choose to upgrade 1 unique character from the previous round to one that has a higher cost and counts as the same character, following faction rules, to be a part of the 150 additional points. The combination of 2-3 regular non-epic additional mini's must be from your squad's faction or be allowed into your faction/squad via CE/SA (Fringe 100pt Revan and regular Fringe characters can be used in any faction).
Start date: Friday, October 10th (Friday). Please sign up/submit squads by midnight on October 9th (Thursday).
Tournament Structure: Ideally, we'll have divisions of 5 players each, so that each player will play everyone else in their division once during Rounds 1-4. Round Robin format (randomly determined) will be used for pairings. Depending on the sizes of the divisions, we may add another round at the 375pt level, in order to ensure that every player gets to play against everyone else in their division; updates will follow as registrations come in. After all of the regular rounds are completed, the top 2 players in each division will progress to the playoffs (1st vs 2nd, and 2nd vs 1st). The rounds will happen in this order:
List of Registered Participants: thereisnotry Hi-Fives DarthMaim gandalfthegreatestwizard Lightsaber spryguy1981 urbanjedi NoffyD
UPDATE: We’ve got 8 players, which means two divisions of 4 players each. For the first 3 rounds of the events (125, 175, and 225pts) you will be playing in a round robin format against the other people in your division. Then, for Round 4, each person will be paired with someone from the opposite division. After that we’ll determine who makes the playoffs.
For this season, I've decided to name the divisions after two famous hyperspace lanes: Kessel Run Division Hydian Way Division
Regarding playoffs: Since we have a total of 4 players, it seems about right to do a Top 4: the top two players from each division will advance to the semi-final round: --1st place from the Kessel Run division will play vs 2nd place from the Hydian Way division --1st place from the Hydian Way division will play vs 2nd place from the Kessel Run division
And then, if the 3rd and 4th place players from each division are interested, they could play a couple of "consolation playoff" matches, just because it could be fun. That'll be up to them, when we get to that point.

How does gambit work with the new pt totals? For the last GE tourney it was as follows; 100pt = 5 pt mini 150 = 8 pt mini 200 = 10 pt mini 350 = 18 pt mini Thanks in advance for clarifying

Therefore (following elementary school math rules for rounding)... 125 = 6 pt mini 175 = 9 pt mini 225 = 11 pt mini 375 = 19 pt mini

As far as the scoring for match points; 125 pts = Full 125 pts ( or full opponent squad pt total ) = 3 pts Win at any pts = 2 pts Loss at 63 pts or higher = 1 pt Loss at 62 pts or lower= 0 pts 175 pts = Full 175 pts ( or full opponent squad pt total ) = 3 pts Win at any pts = 2 pts Loss at 88 pts or higher = 1 pt Loss at 87 pts or lower = 0 pts 225 pts = Full 225 pts ( or full opponent squad pt total ) = 3 pts Win at any pts = 2 pts Loss at 113 pts or higher = 1 pt Loss at 112 pts or lower = 0 pts 375 pts = Full 375 pts ( or full opponent squad pt total ) = 3 pts Win at any pts = 2 pts Loss at 188 pts or higher = 1 pt Loss at 187 pts or lower = 0 pts Are my basic math calculations correct?

Greetings SWM's community! We need your help! Last Spring we had 12 players sign up for the Spring GE Tourney! This made for 2 divisions of 6 players in each division. For the Fall tourney starting tomorrow, there are only 6 signed up ? There's still time for more players everyone! How about DarkDracul, Urbanjedi, Mando, Randy, and NoffyD?
