thereisnotry defeats Hi-Fives 378-34 (3-0) on Dark Academy
I won the map roll and chose Dark Academy. Jordan set up on the right side, with his guys split between the upper and lower hallways. I pulled in a YV Consul and gave Master Shaper to Tsalok. The Yammosk had no eligible CEs to steal.
Round 1: I won init and let him go first. Round 1 was all positioning until R2 towed Rex up for a barrage of shots against Tsavong Lah, but lucky evade dice kept me uninjured. Gambit for me. 19-0.
Round 2: Jordan won init and let me go first, so I confidently spun my Yammosk. He spun some fodder. Then Czulkang charged up and killed Ordo (which allowed Shimmra to move forward). I didn't realize it at the time, but Ordo was too far away from Echo, so Echo couldn't copy his CE...that was pretty significant in this game. Shimmra then ran up and killed Mace (hitting for 50s is fine...that's good for the game); Mace couldn't riposte due to Force Immunity. When Mace died, Tsavong moved a bit closer to the action. Cody and Fives did some damage to Czulkang, but not enough to kill him. Tsavong then ran up and killed R2 (allowed Shakel to move forward) and put a bunch of damage onto Dooku (some failed Makashi saves). Shakel ran up to attack Dooku, but he made his Makashi saves...then Shakel's CE allowed Czulkang to move up and kill Fordo (which allowed Tsalok to advance). The ARC Scout used Targeting on Czulkang and shot him (down to 10hp). Dooku put some pain onto Shakel, who embraced it. Tsalok ran forward and killed the ARC Trooper, which allowed Yogand to advance. Yogand then ran in and attacked Dooku, but the dude was a saber master and avoided all damage. Rex moved up and killed Czulkang (all of the Retaliatory Attacks vs Dooku were irrelevant because I couldn't roll for nothing), then put some damage into Tsavong Lah. Tsalok took some damage from Echo. I moved some people into gambit. The ARC Sergeant hit Tsavong again (160hp). Gambit for me. 187-34.
Round 3: I won init. Shimmra killed Dooku and Fives, which allowed Shakel to advance. Echo triple-attacked vs Shakel (no cover) but couldn't roll for nothing. Khalee Lah killed the ARC Scout (Tsalok advanced). Warmaster wrecked Rex and cleaved into Cody (10hp)...Yogand advanced. Warmaster took a bunch of damage (down to 90) from a nice Crit-Flurry from Cody. The ARC Sergeant swooped in to smack Tsavong Lah, but he missed. Shakel killed some fodder, then Yogand moved up to finish Cody. Yogand then moved in to triple on Echo (down to 10hp). Tsalok killed the ARC Sergeant. My other guys (Agent Officer, Nagme, Consul) all killed the Gizka a few times, but his cousins kept coming back for more punishment. 378-34.
I've gotta say: this squad is fun at 375pts! It's been rather lack-luster so far, for the most part...but 375 has so much crazy in it. Meanwhile, most of Jordan's guys (even Mace) were defenseless against my charging Vong brutes. The map played a significant role here too, since he couldn't easily get LOS on my guys without exposing himself; on the Throne Room map that wouldn't have been a problem. I haven't had much chance to play with my son since higher education got in the way, so it was fun to get together with him again. Thanks for the game, Jordan!
