How do you play against a team with both of these reserves characters, especially if they also have a character with anticipation?
I just played a match where if my opponent rolls a 5, 10, 11, 15, or 20 for initiative they get to add 30 points to their squad, and between recon giving two rolls and anticipation rerolling one, there’s a better than 50% chance of adding 30 points every round.
We don’t use virtual cards (yet) and my opponent added 90 points to his 150pt squad in the first four rounds, it felt unwinnable from the get go

well, you could play something like never tell me the odds, but that doesn't help all that much.
I guess the biggest thing is that the reserves count for VP so it doesn't really matter how many guys they bring in as when you kill them you score points for them and the game ends once someone has reached the build total at the end of a round (sounds like you were playing 150). If you are playing a more casual killemall game, it becomes more difficult.

Using Points and gambit are the answer. This combo never sees play in competitive games because the extra units are generally not worth it when they provide extra victor points.
Otherwise, GOWK.

I have a policy of very aggressively killing a Lobot dead as soon as I possibly can in any game. He is not a tanky piece send a Jedi into his face or Accurate Shoot him.

Thanks all, that helps. We were playing last man standing and I didn’t think reserves counted towards point count

You could always say “two can play at this game” and arrive with Pong Krell and Chancellor Palpatine or your own reserves combo.
