Welcome to Galactic Escalation Spring 2026! V-set 29 will be legal for play

The goal is to encourage more participation with the lower time frame needed to complete the tournament. With just 1 game being played in rounds 1-3 and 2 games in round 4, we should be able to determine an overall winner in half the time compared to previous seasons. If you have never tried this format before, this is a good time to try it out! For people who had joined before and felt it was too much of a time commitment (previously took about 3 months to complete initially), I hope this format of scheduling will be something you'd like to try again.

Is this correct ( in bold ) ? Are we playing 5 games or 4 games total, before the playoffs?

I personally like the 5 games total, before the playoffs commence RollEyes

Just a reminder @ Mando and my future round 4 opponent;

I will be out of the country and unable to play starting Tuesday, April 21st ( 6:00pm Pacific time ) and will not return until Thursday, April 30th ( 5:00pm Pacific time ). I hope that everyone in the tourney is okay with waiting for me to play my round 4 match with whoever my opponent is. If not, I can take an auto loss, which I would ( be bummed ), but I would completely understand, if needed, to progress the tourney. ThumpUp

if people would prefer 4 games total, then i can change it to that. Otherwise my plan was for there to be some cross division play for 1 game in round 4 and then 1 game pitting the top 2 and bottom 2 in the division against each other for the final game. That would allow the final standings to be mixed up some.

I have an upgrade question. Can I upgrade a piece in my squad to a piece with a higher point cost on the card, but Subject to a rapport that makes it cheaper than the current piece?

Yes. To upgrade, the printed cost on the card is what matters. Rapport doesn't affect it

Just confirming;

Map choice stays the same for the entire tourney? So your round 1 map is the same throughout?

I noticed that some people have changed their map choice from round 1 to round 2.

Is this allowed? Can map choice be changed each round?

Yes, that has been allowed since the first Escalation.

Is this true for the 4th round to the playoff round as well?

May I please request Mando to answer this one? One of the past GE's, he ruled that you can't.

Mando? Confused

I'm not mando, but a quick look through the squad listings for the past 3 GE tournies (fall 25, spring 25, and fall 24) have people changing maps, so it seems that it has been a thing for at least the last couple years. I didn't take the time to read to see if there were limitations on changing during the playoffs or at some other point, so I Would assume that you could change between rounds.

Is our round 4 preferred map selection, our last map selection in the tournament? ( including rnd 5, and the 3 rounds of the playoffs ( if you make it that far, of course Cool )

Does our preferred map choice for Rnd 4, follow us the rest of the tournament, or can we switch it in Rnd 5 and/or at the beginning of the playoffs?

Map choice for round 4 is what is used in playoffs

Found his ruling back in November of 2024. I am assuming that it will be the same this time around as well. It won't affect me, as I won't be making the playoff round, but good to know for the top 2 players ( Top player from each division ) that will compete in the playoff round ThumpUp
