We are always a bit confused on how stacking and stat bonuses interact and I was wondering if there's a thread somewhere that goes into this in better detail. Or maybe this thread could serve as such.
For example, I know that two named abilities (like cunning attack) will not stack. But Cunning Attack with, say, Talon Karrde's blanket +4/+10 would stack (giving you +8/+20).
But there are other times I understand that certain bonus will NOT stack. And I am unclear about when those things don't stack. My understanding is that when things are not named, they would not stack. If for example a CE grants X +4 attack, and another CE grants +4/+10 (Talon Karrde as an example,) in this situation you would only get one of the +4 attacks.
Can anyone offer any guidance or point me to where this has already been discussed?

You're right so far. 2 straight bonuses to the same stat from a CE will not stack. However, if you have a straight bonus from a CE and one from a Synergy, those will stack. Two synergies (because they are the same named ability) do not stack. Two differently named abilities, even if they affect the same stats (say Assassin and Jedi Hunter) will stack.
As for why, I think "because Wotc said so" is probably the best you're gonna get.
