Mark yer calenderz!Vassal Con 2026August 27-30I'm putting the information out now so that we can all get it into our calendars. Unless there is a massive outcry of "that date won't work for me" from many people in the community, these are the dates of VassalCon this year. It's before the school year starts, so hopefully that will allow more people to participate. As usual, it's Thursday through Sunday. For people who don't want to take Thursday off of work, it will start on Thursday evening again. But we'll also schedule a more niche event on Thursday morning, for those who are able to find the time. If you want a broad approximation of what VassalCon will look like this year, you're welcome to look at how it was planned last year...there will be differences, but in terms of timeframes and types of events, what you see there is probably quite similar to what we'll have this year. In the meantime, please feel free to share ideas or feedback about what you'd like to see this year. I won't guarantee that everyone gets what they want, but it's very likely that some of you have some great ideas which could make this year's VassalCon the best ever. I'll update and rewrite this post when I have more info.

I would prefer it be the next weekend. As I already have that week off. It would also be on a holiday weekend here.

I have no problems with this weekend. As long as it isn't Sept 17-20. I think we should have 2 team tournaments this year. One per normal and one where the partners are randomized. I think that could be a blast.

"Red 5 standing by" for the weekend of August 27-30th. Other weekends would be super challenging for me, and I probably wouldn't be able to participate in many events, if any. August 27th-30th works best for me, and I was able to take work off on Sat and Sun that weekend, so I could play in most, if not all the events on Sat and Sun.

As far as what events I would like to see are the following; 1. 200 pt Max - "Epic Dynamic Duo" ( 2 minis required and 1 Epic required - totalling 200 pts or less ) 2. 200 pt "Fantastic Four" ( 4 minis required equaling 200pts or less ) 3. 200pt All Faction Tounrnament ( Description: Build a 200-point or less squad with exactly 10 activations, one activation from each faction. Only the faction on the card counts for purposes of this format ) 4. Royal Rumble ( Description: Bring 3, two-activation squads with no faction restrictions, each totalling up to 100 points. Play one squad at a time against your competitors on the Arena map. ) 5. 200-point V-set Constructed Tournament 6. 200 pt Vassal Con Champs

do we have a schedule of events so far for this year? I'd like to start squad planning for the Jedi Challenge if it is different than last years format.

There is no specific schedule yet. I'm working on that this week.
What was it that you didn't like and would like to be changed for the Jedi Challenge this year? I've asked for input and suggestions, but there have been very few of them.

I don't mind if we do the same thing as last year..I wasn't able to join vassalcon so it'd be new for me to build squads for it.

Oh, I see: it's not that you didn't like last year's format...it's that you'll only need new info this year if the format is different than it was last year. Gotcha!
Yes, I'll probably be different in some way, but it'll obviously have the same 3-tournament design, along with some squad-building variations at each level.
I'm serious that I'd like to hear ideas and suggestions from the community for how to shape or structure various events at VC.

Stealing an idea from Kezzamachine here, but I liked the RACE TOURNAMENT - Choose a race. This race must be shared with the tournament master. Humans and Vong obviously not races. - Your squad may ONLY contain characters from that race. - Only one squad per race Not sure how that would work out in a VASSAL environment, but I reckon there's a Wookiee, Trandoshan, Droid squad etc that could have a go at each other.
(The Arcona player gets to build a 400pt squad to make it fair)

Good catch - forgot Grievous was /technically/ a Droid. Might have to change some rules around doors to prevent someone going IG-88s and a ton of R7s / R2 - that one's a lil too powerful for this format.

It's all fun and games until you have to figure out "what species is Asajj Ventress?" after the Rattataki, Dathomirian, Zabrak and Near-Human players all decided she belongs in their squad.

Near-Human surely isn't a species, Dathomiri and Rattataki aren't competitive. She's Zabrak. Might have to exclude the Zabrak though, not sure Maul, Savage, Daka and Talzin are on the same level as an Ewok swarm.
