Does anyone think the rumours about GL re-releasing the movies in 3D (Avatar style) have any truth to them?

I am waiting VERY IMPATIENTLY for star wars to come to blu-ray. I wonder what features such a release might get? I'm hoping ror original and updated versions of all the films. Maybe extended 'making of' docos? What's your guess/wish?

I've heard that before. And technically it wouldn't be in Avatar style, it would be in Clash of the Titans style. Avatar was filmed in 3D, whereas CotT was filmed in 2D then converted to 3D which ruined it. So I'd much rather not have Star Wars in 3D unless the technology advances far enough to the point where it doesn't look like crap.

I think Bluray would be cool. But I fail to see how they could make it 3d without it looking pretty bad. I personally don't think Star Wars needs to be 3d, like Avatar did. In 3d in the cinema, Avatar is just an insane experience, but on dvd in 2d it is a bit disappointing.

Oh please Mr. Lucas, can't you just leave well enough alone? Don't get me wrong - we appreciated the cut scenes restored in A New Hope, but otherwise please just give us the blu-rays of the movies as-is (including the original theatrical cuts of the OT). And please do so soon, as I'm waiting patiently for the OT on Blu-Ray before I invest in one.

I heard on Man Cow about 3 or 4 years ago that Lucas was planning on releasing the movies in 3D for the 35 anniversary. I thought it was crazy at the time but now it kind of makes sense.
