I only ever knew one guy who actually used them. Many a joke was made about some of the more extremely unintuitive selective of tokens, like the multiple Oooglith Masquer tokens.

I turn my pieces and "tap" their cards. It is much easier to remember that way.

I use the tokens for Force Points, d6s for damage (counting down), 1 on a d6 for a locked open door, 6 on a d6 for a locked closed door, and 3 on a d6 for a blasted door. I turn my miniatures when they are activated.

You turn the pieces? Like face you, then opponent, then you again? I'm too lazy to do that, so I just turn the cards sideways, not even 180 degrees!

I know I have seen some merge the SWM tokens with glass beads so you had a see-through token. These were beads with a felt backing so you could remove the backing, affix the token, and then reapply the backing.
I typically put my cards in a collector's page and then use dry erase. I put tiny rubber bands of different color to mark multiple high HP pieces. As for activation, I am working on an idea and will post it if I get any positive results.

I don't like rotating the figures because it makes the game look kind of silly - characters staring into walls instead of looking at their enemies. Plus I can never remember which is which, and there are several characters who are looking backward where I can't always tell which way they're looking. I don't usually run swarms, though. I can see the issue in that case.

I will also be buying some of those fancy counters from that website. Nice. I generally only take the minis for my squad, along with a few extra ones just incase. I put these in my Pirates tin layered with bubble wrap, like a lasagne. I just keep my cards with them too for ease of carrying. If I ever start using a bigger box, I may keep the cards in their collector pages.
