Looks like so far we have:

Jen'ari
Darth Rattlehead
Mando
Flying_Arrow
Caedus (assuming your inquiry means you'd like to play).

I'd absolutely love to play, simply because it's SWM. I was just thinking that with all the talk about how we needed a format like this, there would be more interest shown by some of the more casual players.Confused On another note, BM isn't working that well, I may need to send my info Via FB sir. I will try to put a plug on SHNN, this week, as well

Well, the unfortunate truth is that there is often a lot of talk and not enough action from some. I still hope we at least get to 10! (I think we will)

By all means, plug away!

i am still trying to figure out what to do with extensions and things on vassal to play.
I missed last thursday even though Mando was on and wanting to play ;(

But I am excited about the event and will make sure to contact some of the TN guys who don't always get on here anymore.
Sithbot, shmi15, deaths_baine, ultrastar, etc.

I'm category 3 but I want to build my own thematic squad lol. I think there should be an option for that and we have to have our squad checked out for power level by others to make sure it isn't broken. Just my thkughts

sounds fair but a player that identifies as "casual" should judge. Just to be fair

Not sure why squads would have to be "checked" by anyone as we are all using the same squad building rules (I thought).

Option 3 ("advanced" players) is that you're just given a pre-built tier 2/3 squad. No squadbuilding for advanced users. Spry wants to build his own tier 2 squad. The "check" would be that he hasn't actually built a tier 1 squad.

One more question about the squad building rules

No init altering abilities

I assume this means that

Recon
Anticipation
Sense the Future
Tactician
Master Tactician
Tactics Broker
Kylo Ren's ability
100pt Sid who has a CE that wins init
smugglers Luck

Characters with any of the above abilities are not allowed just like all the other rules (and I probably missed some as well).

Oops, didn't read the thing correctly. I thought that everyone had the option to build their own squads (or just show up and ask for one).

No, sorry. It defeats the purpose.

One huge problem is that power levels are completely subjective. There have been "casual" tournaments in the past where top tier players bring "fun" squads, that are legitimately not top tier, but they are still pretty good. The top tier player still dominates, souring some players and raising many eyebrows.

The point of the format is to give an advantage to some over others. Sorry Matt, if you play, you (or any other GenCon big tournament attendee) will get a handicap.

Can you be handed a tier 2/3 squad and still win? Are you that good? Let's find out!

Correct (and I'm sure there are a few others - but you got the idea)

Tim, wasn't there also something about not spamming more than 4 of any certain character as well? Finishing up a squad and was just curious

Good point, there was that mentioned somewhere. You know - since squads are already being built - let's leave that out this time. If we find it's an issue, then we will address it for next time.

This thing is coming up soon now, I think we have all the details hammered out.

Beat the drums, tell your friends. Challenge the "old pros" to see if they can compete with an unknown squad.

Let's get a decent turnout here!

guess I should sign up for this. I will be out of town for a week around Thanksgiving, so hopefully if I make it that far, I can find a way to schedule games.
