This is happening. There's room for 1 or 2 more last minute additions if anyone is able to come. 7pm tonight (Dec 30th). Pre-built squads, 200pts each. 3 rounds. Free tournament, prizes for everyone.

This happened. Awesome times.

Trevor "thereisnotry" wins another tournament.

I'll hopefully be able to do a more detailed writeup later.

The LBB writeup reminded me that I never wrote up the details here.

Final standings:
3-0 (9pts) Trevor "thereisnotry", Rebel
2-1 (6pts) TJ "FlyingArrow", Old Republic (by the narrowest of margins on the Strength of Schedule tiebreaker)
2-1 (6pts) Stephen "leftieswillrule", Republic
1-2 (3pts) Avery, Imperial
1-2 (2pts) Chris, New Republic
0-3 (1pt) Jon, Fringe

The 6 squads are here:

I pre-built the squads with the goal that there would be no auto-losses among them, and I tried not to use any NPEs. So there's no Override or activation control or Strafe/Gallop. Everyone got to choose their own squad (or build their own with approval that it fit the power level of the other squads). I had Trevor choose my squad for me after everyone else had chosen.

These were the two squads no one selected:

It was just three rounds, but some people stuck around for a fourth game after the tournament.

I can't speak about the other games, but here's a quick summary of mine...

Round 1 vs Jon's Tusken Raiders. I though the Old Republic Commander was safe, but he wasn't. He was taken out at the top of round 2. Fortunately, the Bantha charged forward and I was able to take it out before it's able to do much damage. Carth+cannon shots finished that job. So we both had lost important Double Attack CEs. I ended up winning, but he did get to 100pts.

Round 2 vs Avery's "Black & Blue lite". He was new to Black & Blue, and this is not an optimized version. Shoaneb's Force Sense caused big problems for him as I was able to pick off most of his troopers in spots that would have been perfectly safe with super-stealth on. Vader swapped in and I was able to unload basically my whole squad on him and took him out. It did take a round of the whole squad shooting at him, but that did the job and that was pretty much the game at that point. He took out some soldiers along the way but not enough to get to 100pts. Afterward we talked some about using the swap to swap out to safety instead of using it to swap up into the fight. I didn't see his third round match, but it did end up as a 3-0 win.

Round 3 vs Trevor's Charging Rebels. This game was marred by a dirty rotten cheater (me) but redeemed by a wise and just judge (me). Top of round 2, I used Surprise Move and then opened a door to take out a Vornskr and something else, using Carth's GMA. After the game, I was discussing the OR squad with Trevor. I mentioned that I had another version of the squad with Aric Jorgan, but Aric didn't get GMA from the AJG. Then I remembered that Carth doesn't get GMA either. That GMA at the top of round 2 was illegal and it swung the whole game. I never would have even opened the door if I remembered he didn't have it, and Trevor would have still had the Vornskr. Given the momentum that move provided, the judge determined that the OR player had to forfeit the match.

But the actual skirmish went like this... Carth killed a couple pieces and then hid around a corner with the Diplomat standing in the way to try to keep people away. Shoaneb came up and stood nearby, twin-riposting to kill anything that attacked her. That worked pretty well, especially since she got paralyzed and lost a turn. So otherwise she wouldn't have been doing very much. Everyone else came up shooting from behind Shoaneb while Trevor's squad came charging in one by one. Trevor made the mistake of charging in with Han too early. He was concerned that I would block his best spot to land - he was able to shoot at 3 of my guys instead of just 1 if I had blocked the spot. But by coming in early I was able to take Han out that round. Without Charging, several of his guys couldn't reach me for an attack that round. The loss of those attacks, on top of a couple bad rolls that left the OR Veteran Trooper both alive and unactivated, on top of Carth's illegal GMA, led to a 3-0 win for me. That was quickly forfeited into a 3-0 win the other way.

Prizes were a couple of boardgames (China and Bridges of Shangri-La), 7 minis (from a freshly opened Jedi Academy booster... Plagueis as the VR), a set of VSet 12 cards, and 2 Christopher West maps. 12 of them, selected in order starting with the winner so everyone walked away with 2.

Awesome! Sounds like fun.

And where did you find the booster? We'll have more LBBs and surprising him with boosters would be great.
