Thanks man.

I've been banging my head against the wall with Mandalorians for 3 1/2 years now.

Jason has obviously been tearing up the regionals for years now, surpassing my overall number of Regional wins. Years ago had already won several regionals with the same three squads he played frequently. I challenged him to play more factions and a more diverse array of squads. He did that in spades over the last several years, often winning with tier 2 squads. He made it to nine different factions and chose to not play the 10th faction (Yuuzhan Vong) since. So realistically he could've most likely done it had he concentrated on that, so he certainly deserves credit for essentially doing the same thing.

I'll post a write up later.

Fun fact - I played six different people, who were playing 6 different factions (and I was the seventh faction since none of them were Mandalorian.)

I think it's safe to say there was a wide diversity of squads present.

Really happy with the turnout. 15 is nothing to snear at for a regional tournament these days.

Thanks to all those who made the trek out (2/3 of the participants were from out of state)

Congrats Tim, wish I could've made the trip. Jason did indeed come very close to doing the same thing as he was second at Indiana last year with his cloaked spit poison vong squad that I think he called purple people eaters?

Wish you could've made it to Greg.

Jason came close at least one other time with Vong. Chicago 4 (5?) years ago.

I've lost track how many times I made top 4 with Mandos. I think I got 2nd 4-5 times, lol.

Congrats Tim, quite an accomplishment.

it would be cool to see all the regional winning faction squads in one place. just to compare them. Do you have the years in which they won?

Interesting thing to think about and to compare

That would take some digging but I might be able to do it. If so I'll make it in a separate thread.

I ran this:

--NR didn’t work out, back to Sith--
50 Darth Cognus
40 Warb Null
36 Atton "Jaq" Rand
28 Darth Talon, Sith Assassin
15 Sith Holocron
12 Krath Death Witch
11 Freedon Nadd, Dark Force Spirit
5 Killik Drone
3 XT-6 Droid

(200pts. 9 activations)

Went 2-2 with 7 points. Lost miserably to AniObi, did better but lost against Ewoks with AT-ST, beat a ghost crew squad, and a republic commando squad. In retrospect I’d switch out Zannah for Cognus, no defence against adjacent shooters isn’t worth the tricks Cognus has.

I'm sure it's not. Perhaps it is for me, but I'd guess others have too.

My squad is such that it lends its self to that. Pre-init movement breaker, cloaked, etc

I guess you'd call it a shooter squad, but obviously Maul is melee, but Pre Vizsla (Darksaber) and Kelborn (Gaunlet Knife) both also count as Melee when adjacent. So there is a good amount of Melee Damage it can dish out in a round (almost as much as shooter damage).

The 6 DW Sabateur can dish out 60 damage (20 base + 10 Maul's CE x twin) at a virtual +14 attack (6 base + 4 Maul's CE + (-)4 to enemies defense from traps), all while cloaked keeps them safe and they even have satchel charge to blow doors when needed. The Merc can lay down 60 as well (10 base + 10 Maul's CE + 10 Deceptive x twin). And of course they all cost 1 less, can reroll failed attacks (but die if they miss again), and self destruct for 20 damage due to Pre Vizsla.

Kelborn's movement is key as always to the Mandos. He gets twin from the Captain, and can do 120 damage on the move (10 base + 10 cunning + 10 gauntlet knife x double-twin GMA). Cloaked helps keep him safe. He's also helpful to help spread the three commander effects around with relay orders and coordinated command.

Maul can force cloak and be up in the mix, and is a monster vs melee with Teras Kasi and twin LS riposte. He can lay down 80 damage with twin LS assault. Pre Vizsla is no slouch laying down 60 with twin Darksaber and an awesome attack (12 + 4 gregarious + (-)4 to enemies defense in traps). Parry helps keep him safer vs melee.

Surprisingly durable for such intense firepower. Has many weapons and is well rounded. Struggles against large repulse/unleash the force and stout strafe/galloping attack (Durge on Speeder, Greivous on Wheelbike, Luke and Leia on Speeder) - in other words anything that can kill many of the sabateurs in one turn.

Achilles heel is Basila (CE dependent, but has enough firepower to not let disruptive or distraction get too close) or speedy swap with activation control (selective annihilation of commanders)
