So I play with a variety of players and I see some play with squads that are just set to win, and some that play to win with a fun squad. What is the balance? I know I'm not going to win a tournament if I play with a fun themed squad, but I personally prefer that to the mass amounts of GOWK and GGDC squads. Just curious to see where ya'll are at?

I am doomed to never play powergames because I refuse to mix eras.

I am doomed in the opposite way. I can't stop myself from using characters in unlikely combinations - sometimes just plain silly. My goal is to confuse and befuddle my opponent trying to figure out what the hidden traps in my squads are. Often times it turns out there aren't any, and my DCI rating is proof of that Razz

i play for fun with creative squads, just look at some of my squads on here and you will see what i mean. Some are deady with a terrible weakness, others are just creative but would win nothing. I cant see why any one would play just to win that defeats the purpose, to have fun.

it doesnt defeat the purpose if your opponent is aiming for the same amount of destruction. it makes it all the more competitive. but theyre are times when me and my friends will run jawas vs. tuskens, ewoks vs. mynocks, wookies vs. Vornskyrs etc. theres Fun factor, and then theres extremely fun factor.

going back to when I would compete in HeroClix events to now I have always been prone to using fun theme builds. I've won events and I've gone winless in others, it's about playing a fun game with friends that matters to me, not so much the outcome.

Playing for fun is the purpose i remember someone who would use the same mando cloaked squad with chameleon droids for like 2 months with 1 different squad in those 2 months and i always thought man that seems really not fun at all

I'll put a little money into this hobby but here is no way I'm forking out what it would take to get everything that it takes to make sure I'd always have the pieces I need for a winning squad.

I play to win when i play aginst others. But when it's just me and friends that i play with like every other day, i play the newest pieces i got, or the funnest. If i'm going to an event of a gameshop though, i play to win. I don't use GOWK or GGDAC though, simply because there both lame pieces. I run stricktly Mandalorian squads, which i make reallly good. So for me even when im playing to win it's fun for me because Mandalorians are my favorite character. I never play a squad just because it has a realy good commander effect like GOWK or GGDAC.

yeah wookie, thats just cheap and requires no skill at all, and is def not fun.
with my buddies, i too like to use pieces i havent run yet, just to see how competitive they might be in future squads.
the Vornskyrs vs wookies is a ton of fun. they do get the jedi hunter when the wookies run with HoloSid. lots of fun.

i play for those AWESOME moves. i like winning, and i like having fun, so i play both, but its those freaky moves that do it for me ay. like, say, walking anikin solo and doing 100 pts of death? that is just awesome. or maybe kota? repulse 5? it is awesome. :)

I play for the Win at my LGS, but when I'm with my brothers I come up with some pretty goofy squads sometimes.
