Hey. I'm organising a little 100-point tournament thingee between a bunch of friends this weekend and one of them plays Republic and only has General Obi-Wan Kenobi as a unique. He's new to our rotation (although he does know how to play) so I'm not sure how to handle our ban on the piece. I was thinking of re-costing him... not sure if this has been debated at all - and I'm weary not to ask you guys to argue his ban all over again!

So, the simple question is: if you were to re-cost him, how much would it be?
Or, another question could be: If you were to retain his cost, what SA, FP, CE's would you drop?

I say leave his cost, just drop MotF.

I would say drop mettle as well. However, I think the best solution would just be to have someone temporarily lend him GMY or some other fig.

Drop mettle instead. Both end up with about the same odds of saving a SSM, but if he keeps MotF, instead of Mettle, it costs 2 FP's. Both are powerful, but 90% save with 1 FP is a bit overpowered, yet.

Make Mettle NOT stack (just like it should be) and limit SSM to "twice per turn". He keeps Mettle, MotF2 and SSM, thus keeping the flavor of the piece intact.

Well, in a recent tournament at my LGS, we actually permitted GOWK back into the tournament, but SSM only blocks melee attacks and Mettle doesn't stack. Could you try that?

I'd like to say GOWK is gone... but its the only unique piece he owns and he's only starting... we ended up going Mettle doesn't Stack and SSM becomes Soresu Style... he still owned in his group... we may have to fix that!!! *hehe*

If you absolutely want to use him, I say take away force renewal and give him Force 5.

I say it's not worrying about. Just bring the many things that can defeat him. Use flamthowers or grenades or missiles or such. Run a cheap/weak fodder with those, and make him use his FPs. Then go with a big bang. That B3 in the next set is going to slaughter him! ForcePush doesn't move him, missiles 30 for long range, flamethrower 20. Triple too! Wow. And two for the price of about one. Unban him, WOTC. Then let us woop him. (Rant over).

We removed mettle from his card. It makes the character MUCH more playable and, more importantly, defeatable.
