Greetings everyone!

We are going to continue the Sunday "Regionals" (lol, even if that title really has no meaning here)

This post is announcing the FIRST Sunday Regional of 2022! Creatively titled:

JANUARY 2022 SUNDAY REGIONAL!!!

ALL ARE WELCOME, regardless of geography!!!

Please let me know in this thread if you plan on playing. I'll have a running list

No restrictions or requirements this month, just legal 200pt squads

Additional request - Have a Discord account! It is FREE! It is super handy! We can all chat in the main room between games. You can check out other people's games if you finish early (and hear them talk!)

Not required, but strongly encouraged!

Squads and map selections can be PMed to TimmerB123 anytime after Thursday January 27th (I will PM a neutral party my squad before then). Please send squad link, copy/paste of squad, map, and DISCORD NAME (with the # and 4 digits) {Discord name and # only necessary if you are not already a part of the SWM Discord group. We only need that info 1 time}

*Registration ENDS January 30th at 12:30pm central time (please save your squad on vassal beforehand for efficiency)

*Rounds begin promptly at 1:30pm central time (2:30pm Eastern).

{Please gather in Vassal and Discord by 10 minutes before the start time}

Gameplay in each round will last exactly 75 minutes. Each player is responsible for timing their own games. Players are expected to set up and be ready to start at a reasonably fast pace to keep the tournament moving.

Number of Swiss (initial) rounds depend on number of participants.
<8 = 3 rounds, cut to top 2 (or just straight 4 rounds of Swiss, decided based on numbers)
9-16 = 4 rounds, cut to top 4
17-32 = 5 rounds (very optimistic here), cut to top 4

There will be a break after round three, unless people want a break at another time.

-- Maplist
We will be using the new restricted map list for 2021-2022. All of the maps are available on Vassal now (8/13), so make sure to Download version 22.1 here.

Quote:
Imperial Garrison
Asteroid Base
Cloud City
Gangster's Vault
Desert Marketplace
Imperial Checkpoint
Oceanic Facility
Royal Militia HQ

NOTE: Again, please make sure we all have the updated version (link above) in place and tested before the day of the tournament, so things run smoothly.

ALSO NOTE: Players will be responsible for knowing all errata, floor rules, etc. (Including the latest change to rigged detonators!) http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=31469)
Changes can be found here: http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=20395
and here: http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=28568

This will be an official Star Wars™ Miniatures SWMGPA (Star Wars Miniatures Gamers Players Association) sacnctioned event. The SWM GPA Floor Rules will be in effect.
(The Star Wars Miniatures SWMGPA (Star Wars Miniatures Gamers Players Association) Floor Rules and the Star Wars Miniatures Game Rules should be read and understood by all players wishing to compete in sanctioned events. All SWMGPA members participating in SWMGPA-sanctioned Star Wars™ Miniatures events must abide by these rules.)

As we have done the last several months, we will be very flexible on how the tournament runs. Have to come late, or leave early? No problem, just come play some games.

We will decide the best format based on number of participants and their individual availability for that day.

I put the later start time for individuals that have obligations in the morning, as well at hopefully getting some of our Kiwi brothers involved!

We can discuss some players getting a round or 2 in before that if they need to be finished at a certain time.

We will figure out the details, more than anything just come play some minis!

OK - we currently have 5 squads submitted (including my own).

We have 2 more that have said they are planning on playing, and potentially 1 or 2 more (although probably not)

7 is the trickiest number. Too many for a full round robin, kinda light for a full tournament. (Also with schedules, it will be tricky)

I don't know what everyone thinks is the best option.

We could get an earlier round in with some players. I cannot come before 1:30pm central, and I think Gandalfthegreatestwizard is the same.

We could do a random 4 rounds (instead of Swiss?), or we could do Swiss and either start right at 1:30 central, or have some people start early and hope to catch later arrivals catch up?

Open to suggestions

If you haven't submitted a squad - please confirm if you are or are not playing tomorrow.

(and of course if you have submitted and now can't play, let us know that too)

I can play earlier, but if 2 of us can't, I don't know how helpful that is.

right, unless we are just doing random pairings for 4 rounds (1v1 finish if the top 2 haven't played?)

Or of course if the game of the 2 latecomers goes quickly, but there's no way to expect that, much less guarantee it.

Might also help to know if people have a hard end time. I do not.

Of course we CAN do round-robin if we end up having less than expected numbers. That's why I'm asking people to confirm or not

(and of course I want as many to play that can play)

Since this is all casual, I'm totally open to someone taking the reigns if they come up with a cool plan. (I'll be at work until late tonight, and then occupied until 1:30pm central tomorrow). So don't feel shy - I give full permission with my blessing if you all get something going before I join.
