I saw this asked somewhere but I couldn't find it. I did try before asking again, my apologies for not remembering. I have been trying to use Lightsaber Trainer. If a Piece has a Style Mastery by itself and then picks up the same Style from Lightsaber Trainer, can they stack?

Soresu Style and Soresu Style Mastery have the same name, so following the ordinary rules they do not stack, just like Cunning Attack does not stack with Cunning Attack +20. Two abilities with the same effect can stack, just as long as they have different names.

Glossary entry for Makashi Style Mastery also equates Style with Style Mastery.

Are you talking about this: When this character is hit by a melee attack, it takes no damage with a save of 11. Shii-Cho, Soresu, Ataru, and Niman styles (including style mastery) cannot be used against this character. Because that indicates that they are separate things completely. To have to add that it means the mastery as well shows that they are in fact different styles. I am pretty sure this question has been asked by the TN group in the past and the answer was that they are completely different abilities.

From the rules committee: they do stack. They are different abilities, so they stack. When Makashi Style Mastery negates lightsaber styles, it also negates the mastery versions. The statement in the glossary of Makashi Style Mastery is not just for clarification. It is necessary because they are not the same abilities.
