200pt “2x5” LS/DS Tournament

Using 2 characters each from each of the factions in your desired side (light or dark) build a 10 activation squad to rule the world. Dark side is Sith, Separatists, Imperials, Yuuzhan Vong, Fringe. Light side is Old Republic, New Republic, Republic, Rebel, Mandalorian. Affinity doesn't work, only the faction printed on the card. Advanced Battle Meditation and Booming Voice are treated as not existing on their characters cards, and do not work in this format.

This was one of my favorite events of the weekend.

We built the squad in the car on the way down as I didn't know for sure if I would be able to play or if I would be running some podracing. Randy helped by having some cards and pieces I could borrow.

Rd 1 against micah.
I started shooting his guys rd 1, but my dice failed over and over. It took me 4 different trys to kill mira, and in the meantime she used force sense and smoked sev, then just dealt damage to a lot of other stuff. I did manage to kill bane and finally mira and some other stuff, but it was over. Had I killed mira with the first attack, it might have gone different but we will never know.

Rd 2 against Randy
If I recall his saves were awful and every time I hit him he just took damage. Randy did take out enough guys to get a point, and if his saves had been better, I think he could have easily won.

Rd 3 against bryan.
Sorry bryan for bringing the strafer. Bryan spent 3-4 rounds trying to chase down the speeder only to lose init and watch it fly away. The mandos kept working on maul while bane was busy chasing the speeder and in the end I got just enough damage through to finish off everyone.

Some of these interesting squad building challenges are the things I find the most fun about gencon (and vassal con) as it looks to find cool new combos that you can't normally play.
