Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I have gotten bitten by the custom bug and have some painting questions:
1. Will Testors Model Paint work? If not, any suggestions that don't include warhammer type paints as I have no local game store? Maybe something at a Walmart or Meijer?
2. Should you use a primer paint on your fig before you paint, or just paint over it?

1. Testors can work, but I'm told it doesn't hold over the long term. You'll want to use acrylic, but if you can't get the Games Workshop brand, Golden brand is a close second. It doesn't apply as smoothly as GW, but you can find it more easily at art supply stores. I get mine from a local college bookstore for fairly cheap.
2. I've never bothered with primer. I'm told there is a method for stripping the original paint off a mini, but I haven't looked into that yet.

I've read here and elsewhere that one of the good things about mini's is that you don't need primer.

For me, the testors paints work fine...you have to either use a base coat or black or paint it twice, and then it holds for years...the only porblems I've had with testors is my Omega squad customs...the black doesn't stick to their white for some reason, I've had to paint them 5 times...other than that it's worked fine for me.
