Just wanted to let everyone know about this annual charity event in Murphysboro IL. (a few miles west of Carbondale)

It is just a small town event, but we have a good time and it is for a good cause.

There will be a SW Minis tournament in the afternoon, finishing in time to go to the 5:00 showing of The Phantom Menace in the old movie theater downtown.

Update: The tourney will be Dynamic Duo format, and is slated to start at noon. (12:00pm - Central time)

There are usually raffles for Star Wars toys, posters etc and other misc. items to raise money for the "Shoes That Fit" program. A few local vendors should be there with collectibles and gaming stuff, including Scott from Castle Perilous (Carbondale), so you can feed your shopping habit as well. :)

If you don't live too far away, we hope you'll consider coming for a relaxed afternoon of geeking out on Star Wars - all for a good cause!

I'll post more information about the minis tournament as I find out the details. It was only a $5 entry last time, and I expect it to be the same for this one.

Thanks are due to Kathy Guetersloh of Mediacom (the sponsor) for helping to organize the event once again, and for allowing me to post the flyer on the interwebs.

In case you are wondering about the "Apple" part, our region has many orchards which are a big part of the local economy. Murphysboro is known as Apple City. Now you know!

Hope to see you there BlooMilk

She went with March afterall? She was talking in the summer. At least I won't (hopefully) have to freeze my butt off waiting in line this year.

Ah yes, that would be good to know. Confused
I think Seth may be running it.

I'll pose the question to the TO's in our group. Thanks!

I wasn't able to make it to the tournament last year. Where is it in Murphysboro and could I get directions? Thanks.

Apple Con takes place at:

Google Maps

Liberty Theater is a block away, on the main drag. Also on the map.

Also to note, as of last night, it was determined that Boba, BH will be able to be used in Dynamic Duo play at our venue minus his desintegration ability.

There is hopefully going to be several new possible recruits for the game. I know of several kids' groups coming. I'm going to try to get a handout made of info for them to get started.

So some of us should try to bring some 100pt scrub squads, so we can play trial games with them if there is time. Basic stuff, with one cool unique perhaps? BlooMilk

Not sure that jumping into a DD tourney would be the best intro for them. Depending on what the prizes are, I'll be playing to win. Wink

From what I could tell the movie was sold out at noon. I don't know about the 5 pm showing. Fun times :)

The 5:00pm movie crowd was pretty light. The show was cool of course.

Definitely had a good time playing, even though I had a hard day on the battlefield. Good times indeed. Thanks for making the trip down Keith!

Egypt Wars is coming up soon ThumpUp
