One variant I'd suggest trying would be to drop the Captain for a Czerka Scientist and Wicket/R4 Droid, then using the extra 2 points to upgrade the Gunslinger to a Scout.

It loses a little mobility and damage output, but is more accurate and gives a better chance for an Opportunist Barrage on a desired target.
