The idea is fairly simple, regular 200 mini battles except each player chooses 1 mini that is their “gladiator.” This piece always counts as the nearest enemy when determining targets and other effects. It can affected by commander effects and special abilities, and it takes damage as usual. All other minis except the gladiators on both squads cannot be damaged, or activated, by any other character, enemy or ally. Non-gladiators may not attack or use abilities that replace their attacks or turn. If a gladiator has line of sight to the other gladiator at any time, it must end its turn within line of sight to the other gladiator. If gladiators have line of sight at one point in the game and at any time don’t have line of sight, they are both defeated.

Victory (defeat the enemy gladiator)
As soon as one gladiator defeats the other (and the defeated gladiator doesn’t come back into play), that character is no longer a gladiator, and the winning squad may now attack and damage all enemies under usual conditions, and the game is played with all other swm rules in play. The losing squad must still defeat the winning squad’s gladiator, after which the losing squad may also attack and damage all enemies. Whoever defeats all enemies first wins the skirmish.

what do you guys think?

I like it because it brings more power to the big hitters...the line of sight rules could be taken out or adjusted but in general it's a pretty cool concept representing your squad with a chosen piece.

Quick Question: Do faction Rules apply? if they do i think the most powerful beat you could have is either GMLS, darth Bane (with some boosts from the Vset), Or a VOng squad using pieces from the vset

I think you'd find this thread interesting:

http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=5651

Not the exact same thing, but similar. Here's the summary:

Challenge #1: The Entourage

SQUAD-BUILDING RULES:
200 points.
Faction rules: No restrictions - mixed factions are allowed.
Other: none.

GAME RULES:
Only one character (the "lead") may cause damage to the enemy. Other characters may do everything as usual, but any damage caused to the enemy and anything that would cause an enemy to be defeated is ignored unless it comes from the lead. Scoring is normal, including gambit.
