Well, that's sort of the point, isn't it? GOWK isn't just good, he's too good. GMY, by contrast, is simply good. Listen, there are a lot of things that can make a piece broken; a single super-powerful ability, a powerful ability that is under-costed, or a combination of many good abilities that are under-costed. The fact is, GOWK is simply, and dramatically, under-costed for his abilities. No single ability is too terribly unbalanced, but all of them together should cost way more then he does. Paradoxically, because his abilities are not broken individually, it makes him essentially "unfixable"; since no single ability makes him broken, no single fix will work.

I see no reason to discuss bringing him back anymore. Similar to what Maverick said, if there was a way to bring him back, it would have already been done. QFT. Can we not get over this one piece and move on, people? There's 600+ other ones to play with, why does everyone seem to care about this one so much? It was an easily obtainable powerful piece. I got into the game when GOWK was the most powerful piece and I nearly bought the starter. If I had, I'd be pretty upset about it, because I would have bought the starter specifically for that one piece, which was then banned. I never got the starter and now have no desire to get it. (I'm sure the ban helps all the stores who still have lots of those starters in stock.) I completely understand the frustration of people who want to play the game but don't have hundreds of figures to choose from. I know everyone says that you can play with the piece casually if you want to, but the DCI rules are designed to be balanced. I'd prefer to play a balanced game, even in casual play. And I'd prefer to just go with the existing DCI ruleset rather than make up my own.

I notice that your post wasn't there from the beginning.... I know I read that, your post existed previously about how to get a hold of Dean...you have not violate any rules and I too am curious why it's gone... I will forward this problem to one of the other mods

why cant there be a rule that he cost 12 more points or something. The cost was random that should be left to people wiser than me.

shatterpoint7 wrote:okay, gowk is not in swm anymore. period. its in the past. let the dead minis bury the dead minis. That is not true at all. GOWK is very much in SWMinis. He can be played as often as you like at home, with friends, whenever, just not in a DCI tournament. I'm fine with GOWK staying where he is. Any changes to the overall figure won't happen (although I disagree that he is a "holy grail" figure - more like a costing error figure, and remember that Rob didn't cost any of the figures), and any changes to SSM will be detrimental to FlObi and any future SSM figure.

I took offense at the replacing part. Yes, they're both Republic commanders at 55 points with similar commander effects, but they play drastically differently, Yoda being keyed more towards offense.

These GOWK arguments are getting a bit stale...
In any event, I'd keep him banned for DCI and just use him in casual games under house rules.

That's not half as amusing as pointlessly discussing it.

I took offense at the replacing part. Yes, they're both Republic commanders at 55 points with similar commander effects, but they play drastically differently, Yoda being keyed more towards offense. What I meant refered to purely to the commander effect and probably how he is played. He is designed to be offensive, but most players would not let him enter combat except with Lightsaber throw to preserve him in the same way they play GOWK. Only Yoda is not an invincable roadblock and is somewhat better as an offensive piece under some curcimstances while GOWK struggles to kill anything importent really. So in my eyes, Yoda pretty much does fill the same slot in terms of commander effect. Different peice, but is used in a identical manner as GOWK would be. A solid leader Jedi that makes everyone tougher, but has to be played more carefully. I meant no offense, but that is how I see him. As a GOWK replacement that can do more damage and is much less survivable As for the Ally part of GOWK... I never knew that. >_<; XD Definately irrdeemably broke without a massive overhall which changes the card.

And don't forget that we've got FLObi, a less-broken Jedi commander with SSM/Mettle.
