Ok my question is a fairly simple one, but one that i dont think has ever been asked.
When hit by an ability that allows for a save of # to prevent the ability do you have to roll the save or can you decline the roll and chose to take the effects of the ability?

You must make the saves. They aren't optional. Someone asked this once on Wizards, and I'm pretty sure that's what the answer was.

as far as i know, you only have the option to NOT make AoOs. as far as saves, they are not optional.

A trick you can use is, if an ability comes along to where you really dont wanna roll the save but as stated above you have to, & you have a force user with fp's. Say you wanna fail the save when you roll it if you pass the save then spend a force point to reroll it again this way it gives you a better chance of failing the save. Just because you have to roll a save & just because you make the save doesnt mean you cant spend a force point to reroll it.
Same goes with attacking, lets say you have Boba BH & he has fp's from sidholo. & boba bh is down to 20 hp & your opponent has lets say Dash RS & they are both adjacent & dash has full HP. You win initiative & you know you only have 1 turn before dash kills you, you make your first roll & its a hit for 20 dam on dash, now you know your second one has to be a crit so that you can disenergrate dash but when you roll, you roll an 18 instead, the attack hits but you would have the option to spend a force point even though the attack hit to reroll to try for a 20..
So basically you must roll saves they are not optional. But you a trick is if you have force points when you wanna fail a save or get a crit when you need it, even though you make the save or even though the attack hits, you can spend force points to reroll it. Just a little tip

Just a little tip then you re-roll, and ROLL A 20!!!!! disintegrated dash!!! see you later!! *crowd goes nuts..* *applause* *stands up to thank the crowd for coming* *calls jared to ask for subway menus, but gets an answer saying subways a fast food place... menus are right in front of your face...* i love rambling on about nothing...
