Extra Blade is a pretty cool SA for Maul, brings that scene from TPM to mind. I'm not sure that LSref really works here. Most of the time it's much smarter to spend that two FP on Force Cloak and avoid being shot at 90% of the time.

Sometimes though more options isn't a good thing when some of the options aren't as good and won't be used. The only situation that I ould see someone using LSReflect is if I didn't have a turn to spare for Cloak, aqnd there's no need to have SAs to cver for every possibility.

True, but pieces should be usable and interesting on their own. It's good to design a piece with an eye towards others but not to design a piece that relies on others.

I'll have to disagree with you there. Maybe because I'm a bit of an old school player, but I think what makes the game fun is different combinations to make a piece more powerful.

I think you misunderstand me. I agree with that sentiment, I just don't think that the nature of this piece should depend on another, not just be enhanced by it.

@Darth_Reignir i have to agree with corran combos are good but a piece that can't function without it's partner(s) is not a good piece in my book.

he is a good peice on his own tho because even if you cloak if Atton Rand ran up adjcent and shot you you could refelct the shots because hes still considered a rage attack and not a melee attack

^ not saying he is bad he is pretty decent I just don't like when people design characters specifically to be used with another character. They tend to be great with that character and then they fall apart when examined away from their partner(s).

he can also be used in seps not just sith and u dnt have to have holo sidious u can use force spirits as well i just think giving him renewl would be a little cheezy

@Cassus, I guess to each his own. A piece can still be good without having the ability to do every single function. There are numerous pieces, both V-Set and Vanilla, that have this sort of duality. In fact, every Vanilla darth Maul comes to mind.

i agree with Darth Reignir on this one espically the sith apprentice maul who is more points than this maul but u need sidious holo to make him better.

Although in fairness that [Darth Maul, Sith Apprentice] is pretty awful. Not sure I'd use it as a benchmark. :P

Either drop Block or swap it for Riposte, because with Parry it's completely pointless (can just spend the fp to reroll the save).

Lol. Interesting fact: My custom Darth Maul (2nd ever serious custom, from way back during Disturbance...) was initially, at the start of design, going to be called Sith Assassin. Then Lord Ball (again!) suggested a name that better suited my theme: Dark Apprentice, and I used that.

I'm a big fan of Darth Maul!!! Extra Balde ROCKS!!! Nice piece! How about Deadly Attack and a lightsaber form though??? It would be more accurate.

This guy at first glance doesn't seem great, but then I read everything and I completely change my mind. I think its awesome. 2 Replace Turn abilities to get him to full power is an awesome idea. Parry keeps him alive with his average Defense, but I like that gamble with it. I think a lightsaber form or deadly attack would be good. But not both

Not sure how I feel about extra blade, seems like twin attack base would just be easier. Everything else fits well though. And assassin is appropriate
