This is a transitional Cade. He's no longer a bounty hunter, not quite Jedi. Blast Cannon is a less dangerous interpretation of his Rawk Chop Special than Splash on his 61 point version. EoL ties him to the Padawan version. Bubble and Leap give him new tricks and Pushing Slash both ties into FP3 on his bigger version while reflecting his proficiency with melding melee combat with the Force. IFR just seemed to fit and his tendency to survive nasty odds screamed Mettle. I've dropped his HP and Dam to keep cost down. He was designed to synergize well with Luke Skywalker, GH.

I like him, perhaps he is not a Champion just yet? Student? Guided? Legacy?

Pushing Slash is something that is a long time coming. I've always wanted some way to combine a force push after an attack. I like it a lot.

not sure I care for Blast Cannon and Lightsaber stacking...

@LB: Its an interaction thats a bit clunky, but taken as an abstraction...and if you squint your eyes really tight...you get the idea. Think of it as Twin allowing a swing of the saber while firing his blaster in his off hand.

Changed Champion to Legacy.

I'm a bit worried about his 120 non-melee Damage with a Lightsaber. Otherwise, this looks like a great piece.

I might swap Blast Cannon for Splash 10. It reduces his damage output to 40 at range. He'll dish out 80 adjacent, but Splash will make him flimsy.

Ended up swapping Lightsaber for Jedi Hunter and dropping his Atk rating to 11. Pushing Slash counts him as having a Lightsaber and his damage output remains the same (though more situational).

If you add splash, perhaps change the wording of Pushing Slash. Pushing Slash 2 (Force 2, replaces attacks: Make one attack against an adjacent enemy. If the attack is successful, the target is pushed back 2 squares and takes an additional 10 Damage)

with all that he offers I feel like ranged double twin is a bit much for 40 points.

3/4/2014 5:09:45 PM (Updated: 3/4/2014 5:18:16 PM)

True, he can dish 80 at any range, 120 within 6. However, he does not have a movement option and his offensive Pilot synergy requires adjacency. What price do you suggest? With Dutch or Bandon, he gets scary. 40 damage @ 6+ squares, 80 damage @ +6 squares against Force users, 80 damage @ 2-6 squares against non-Force users, 120 2-6 squares against Force users, 160 adjacent.

Comparing him to (the bargain priced) MJ, Jedi - he actually has a bit better situational damage (can get max damage from 6 squares away rather than adjacent) and doesn't have to spend any FPs. Having access to Pilot CEs/fairly easy GMA means he doesn't even have to stand still to pull it off so I'm thinking probably at least low to mid 50s (50 to high 40s without Pilot). Granted Mara can do that 120 to anybody, vs just Force users, but Cade's fringe so he also has Talon to boost him.

Ugh, how can I forget about Talon's CE? Really, its no better than Dutch's CE but always good to keep in mind. The nice thing about Mara, and I agree she is a bargain at 45 points, is she can do all her damage unassisted. Additionally, Cade may only be able to dish 40 damage at range against certain squad types. Hmm, this is a tough one. I agree, as is he is too cheap. How would adding a CE affect your thinking? Or dropping Twin to force reliance on Czerkas or R2P0?
Lord_Ball

A CE does limit the opportunities of GMA to NR. Overall I'd say with a max of 120 damage unassisted (regardless of what the situational modifiers are) I wouldn't price him below 45 (same as Mara). the CEs he has access to are really what'll make him shine - Talon and Luke, GH are both allies CEs and while they don't work together either one is an excellent boost for Cade. Dropping either double or twin would also be interesting options.

I would gauge his cost at its current 40 points if I dropped Twin Attack. This halves his damage potential without spending 13 points on the oh-so-fragile Czerka in any faction or 22 points on R2P0 in the NR. Without either, he can still get all Pilot synergy for a potential 80 damage against adjacent enemies.

Decided to drop Twin Attack. Pondering the 40 point cost.

On Pushing Slash 2, what determines a successful attack? A hit or damage?
saber1
3/4/2014 10:18:57 PM (Updated: 3/4/2014 10:19:49 PM)

The attack is successful if it results in a "hit" (attack roll + attack rating meets or exceeds defense of target) regardless of whether damage ends up being applied to the target.

I like what you did with Pushing Slash, its similar to my rendition, but worded better. Unfortunately it is not entirely accurate, as Cade and others who use Pushing Slash usually used the Force Push on someone other than the target they were attacking with the lightsaber instead of both on the same target. I would really like to see Pushing Slash be Force Push 2 with a SA that allows you to replace a single attack with a force power that normally replaces all attacks.

I like Blast Cannon on him as well as EoL and Force Bubble. the character just feels awkward to me as is.

Thanks for the feedback, DW. You are probably correct about Pushing Slash being not-quite-accurate to the character. My [Force-Attuned Combat] on [Cade Skywalker, Reluctant Jedi] is more appropriate. As for the awkward feel, to what do you specifically refer?
juice man

I like Pushing Slash, what threw me was the wording. Perhaps, to keep in line with other abilities, you could replace "If the attack is successful" with "When hit".

You might be intending him for the New Republic, but I can see where he might find some use in Separatists with Twin, in Rebel Pilot squads, or in Sith squads giving him Force Renewal without having to sacrifice a piece.

@SignerJ: Absolutely. While I wanted to maximize the synergy available in the NR, he was always intended to be Fringe to benefit from synergy in several factions.
