Special Abilities

  • Unique. Melee Attack; Triple Attack
  • Dark Master (At the start of the skirmish, choose a Unique allied character. That character may spend this character's Force points as if they were its own.)
  • Indiscriminate (When this character attacks an adjacent enemy, it ignores enemy abilities and commander effects that prevent targeting and attacking. These attacks cannot be redirected.)
  • Niman Style Mastery (+4 Attack and +4 Defense while this character has more than half Hit Points remaining)
  • Parry (When hit by a melee attack, this character takes no damage with a save of 11)
  • Rapport (An ally named Ulic Qel-Droma costs 10 less when in a squad with this character)

Force Powers

  • Force 2. Force Renewal 2; Master of the Force 2.
  • Absorb Essence (Force 2, usable only during this character's turn: Remove an ally with Massassi in its name from play to heal damage on this character equal to the ally's remaining Hit Points; the ally is defeated.)
  • Force Essence (When this character is defeated, you may immediately set up a character named Exar Kun, Dark Force Spirit in the square this character formerly occupied. Any "at the start of the skirmish" instances are immediately resolved.)
  • Leaping Assault (Force 2, replaces turn: Move this character to any unoccupied square within 6 squares. This move does not provoke attacks of opportunity. After moving, this character may still make all of its attacks this turn.)
  • Sith Alchemy 1 (Force 1, replaces attacks: Target living Medium or Small enemy with 10 Hit Points or less remaining within 6 squares is defeated. You can immediately add a character named Massassi Sith Mutant to your squad. The new character sets up in a square that enemy formerly occupied.)
  • Sith Rage (Force 1: +10 Damage on all attacks this turn)

Commander Effect

Savage characters are subject to this effect: At the end of this character's turn, 1 ally with Massassi in its name may take an immediate turn without becoming activated.

This is my entry into week 26 of the CCC and an attempt to make a strong Sith Exar Kun that would still leave a place for the original to be played. I wanted to portray his interactions with the Massassi. To that end, SA1 gives him the ability to add more of them to the squad. Additionally, AE allows him to heal himself by sacrificing Massassi. Finally, the CE shows his manipulation of their lives. Force Bond and Rapport give a bit more bite to his apprentice.

I like Absorb Essence a lot and the help for Ulic is awesome as well, as he is not far from being playable already. Maybe a more beefy alchemy would be appropriate given his skill with it? I get that keeping it Alchemy 1 means it can be used more, though.

I like alot you have done with him, including Absorb Essence (well done) as for boosting {Ulic Qel-Droma}, I would say he definitly needs Triple attack and you could probably get away with 10 less with Rapport. As for the CE is it one immediate turn that activates or (better yet) one immediate turn that doesn't activate?

DW: Good input as always. I initially considered -10 for the Rapport but went conservative for now. I'd considered giving Ulic MotF2 instead of FR1 with the ability to use Exar's FPs via commander effect. As for the CE, I forgot a section. Good catch!

Thanks! Glad I could help :)

Poppins88: I agree he was much better in the alchemical arts than SA1 would suggest at first glance. However, I wanted to focus on the Massassi so SA1 was a good fit. Perhaps, though, he could have more than one lvl of SA?

Added Dark Master and swapped out FR1 in Force Bond for Lightsaber Assault. This gives him a bit more versatility with DM while making Ulic more cost effective. I'm still considering -10 for Rapport.

A piece like Kun with so much history and backstory, it's hard to make an all encompassing piece. I see a lot of abilities here. Then there is the love for Ulic and the CE with Kun DFS. That is a ton of stuff going on for 63 points. I think I would either raise his point value or try to trim some of abilities down. 17 abilities and a CE and the 3 he gives out and you get to add Kun DFS seems kind of heavy. I like how dominating he is though since Kun is close to my SWM heart being my first VR I ever got in a booster.

I was afraid he was starting to bloat up. I might trim off some Ulic love, though its needed to encourage his use.

Hmmm, this is a beastly 'does everything' Exar. Very good for 63 points.

Paring this one down is tough. Dropped Force Bond.

Force Renewal 2 seems useless on this piece. I would suggest dropping it in favor of Force Renewal 1 and a higher number of starting Force points.

SignerJ: Considering he can use 3 FPs a turn with Leaping Assault and Sith Rage it seemed prudent, especially with Dark Master. Toss in Parry rerolls and he'll burn through Force pretty quick.

Good point. Your reasoning makes sense.

I am considering removing Force Essense. I really like the power but it seems the most likely candidate to clean up the "card" a bit without weakening either his offense or Massassi theme. Or, I could drop Rapport. Or both. Thoughts?

I'd consider dropping Dark Master actually - while he was the "Master" Ulic wasn't exactly a typical apprentice or lacky or anything (more like a Partner in crime).

I'd agree but it's tough, I'm having the same issue. Saber and I seem to be on the same train of thought. Kun on Yavin4 solidifying his power. Ulic is off being Captain Mando at this point.

Dark Master also depicts his corruption of about twenty Jedi Knights, forming and controlling the Sith Brotherhood. Its not a great fit for Ulic, I agree, but all-in-all it does work. DM still might be expendable, though.
