Special Abilities

  • Unique
  • Pilot
  • Flight (Ignores difficult terrain, enemy characters, low objects, and pits when moving)
  • Mobile Attack (Can move both before and after attacking)
  • Bounty Hunter +6 (+6 Attack against Unique enemies)
  • Enforcer 20 (This character gets +20 Damage while an ally at full health whose name contains Jabba is within 6 squares)
  • Avoid Defeat (Whenever this character would be defeated, make 2 saves, each needing 11; if both succeed, this character has 10 Hit Points instead of being defeated)
  • Capture (Replaces attacks: Choose 1 large or smaller enemy within range 2. Target enemy is activated this round, cannot make attacks of opportunity and is considered captured; save of 11. Each time the captured character activates, it must attempt a save of 11. On a failure, that character is still captured. On a success, that character is no longer captured.)
  • I Want Them Alive (Replaces turn: Adjacent enemy, who is considered captured or has been activated by an ability from this characters squad, is subject to this ability: This character and an adjacent enemy, of an equal or smaller size, can move up to this characters speed simultaneously; this enemy may not receive or grant commander effects while it's subject to this ability. At the end of the move, that character must be adjacent to this character. If an adjacent enemy subject to this ability occupies a square in this character's starting zone, at the end of the round that enemy is immediately defeated; save of 16)

Captured seems a but overpowered especially with the save of 16. I like the Jabba theme you are going for but not sure of the two new Special abilities. The latter is pretty wordy to for a 38 point piece and feels more like an Epic or BHC boba. For his cost I think replacing them with snare rifle and/or a stun would be better

What I was going for here was something new to this game where a piece attempts to go out and collect other pieces in order to defeat it. I think it would be both fun and flavorful. I'll mull over & play test some more with it. I Want Them Alive still wouldn't be as potentially devestating as say Disintegration; which 9 & 23 point non-unique pieces have.

As far as the wordiness of the abilities go, they certainly are that. There are pieces that are wordy out there but this piece, if it had a card, would have several abilities that require no definition and only 3 with minimal space required... I do appreciate you bringing up those issues. I think I may drop Hitman, survival expert & avoid defeat. Mostly to make this piece more fragile & to save "card" space for capture & IWTA.

Made changes: dropped Hitman, Avoid Defeat, Survival Expert. Changed Capture from save 16 to save 11 in the first step of the ability. Changed IWTA save 16 to save 11. I feel this should keep it at it's cost & keep essentially what the piece was created to do but I invite your comments and constructive critique. Thanks again Grievous for your thought provoking critique :-)

This is a great capture of the character! Changes made were good. Final 10! Good work keep it up man:-)

Good job balancing and for what you were going for it works now, good on the save dropping.

Brought back Avoid Defeat. He dies pretty fast against enemies who get adjacent & while normally this is an acceptable weakness for a shooter, since he is going to be making his bones getting up-close & personal, I believe he would need AD to allow a player to take the chance of getting adjacent to those natural heavy hitters & shooters and/or those beefed up by CE's.

Plus it satisfies a certain flavor to Boba at the time when he was working for Jabba :-)

I have no problem with capture. If you want to get Boba within 2 of a piece worth capturing, be my guest. Else it can be avoided by sending your cheapest piece near him so targeting rules apply. It's not OP at all. I think the 2 range balances it out pretty well. I do have an issue with I Want Them Alive. With all the jolt that is out there, This could be really powerful.

I like the big Enforcer and the thematic synergy it provides between Boba and Jabba. Avoid Defeat and Survival Expert might be a bit much for a 38 point piece.

I've been going back and forth on putting Survival Expert in there with Avoid Defeat. My reasoning is to encourage the use of I Want Them Alive. All too often in play-testing, this Boba would be eliminated when attempting to use both Capture and IWTA on a piece worth the effort on i.e. important commanders, cannons/beatsticks.

Two saves of 7 (+4 to saves via Survival Expert) is still no guarantee that Avoid Defeat will trigger; though it does increase the odds obviously. I do appreciate the constructive critique and welcome any detailed argument against it. Perhaps lowering his HP to 80 could help balance this out? A lot of pieces can do 80 dmg in a round on their own or with a CE, so this would increase his vulnerability. Thoughts?

Addressing the question donnyrides has brought up: IWTA works best with an ability like Capture that can keep an enemy activated for potentially more than one round (without using a turn). This character would take a big risk trying to transport an enemy character who was activated by Jolt (or something like Jolt).

Can the this Fett and the captured enemy be transported by the the skiff?

Hmmm....great question.

I think if we were to get someone to make an official ruling on this they'd probably say no - based on the fact that DS specifies transporting allies. So therefore while Boba is transporting an enemy it would also prevent him from benefiting from DS due to the rules of IWTA that state that the enemy must remain adjacent to him at the end of the move. That's how I'm seeing it anyway.

It would be a bit too strong if he can move in any way other than his own speed while dragging a captive.

Dropped Survival Expert....he's very vulnerable now; increasing the high risk/reward for using IWTA. This should balance everything out. And I'm certain that this Boba could not use IWTA in union with the Desert Skiff ability or any others for that matter.

Final Touch: Added +10 HP a minor increase to his survivability to further encourage attempts at using IWTA. This is one of the best customs I've ever designed. Thank you Bloomilk team, for keeping this site up and running. Donating ASAP!
