Special Abilities

  • Unique (Counts as non-unique for the purpose of allied Special Abilities and Commander Effect)
  • Pirate & Smugglers Guild (Characters with Pirate or Smuggler in their name gain High Stakes (this character get -4 Defence and +20 Damage if it does not move on its turn.))
  • Ysalamiri (Characters within 6 squares cannot spend Force points. This character and characters within 6 squares gain Force Immunity.)
  • Empathy (Allies with Savage within 6 squares lose Savage)
  • Relay Orders (Each allied commander can count distance from this character as well as from itself for the purpose of commander effects)
  • Rapport (Cost 2 less when in a squad with a character who counts as Talon Karrde)

Dankin, one of Talon Karrde's trusted, was one of the few who could remove a ysalamir from its tree without killing it.

I'm surprised we don't have these already.

We don't have them, because giving Ysalamiri to every faction wouldn't make any sense. Bastila squads would become non existence. Everybody would and should run this guy if they were commander heavy and not using Imps. If this character existed, he would completely change the game imo.

LOL. Gone would be the days of Soresu Mastery vs. Push, or Bastila vs. Thrawn. It would usher in a new era of Ysalamiri Handlers vs. Ravenous Vornskrs :P

We should have them. I always thought that, even back when I was buying Universe boosters before the Dark Times. hmmm it just means they have to be limited. Unique would fix that.

If you read the last two comments you would understand that we should NOT have them.

I read and I understand but I think you are wrong. As a Unique it doesn't nerf game play, it would allow a player to fair better against Force heavy squads, allow a whole new style of play for swap squads, stop force using strafers, etc Remember it affects both squads ;) Used well it could stop force batteries. It's all about game mechanics and being able to use any piece carefully.

Pretty sure he wasn't unique before. It wouldn't matter if he was a unique or not. It would still dramatically change the game, as stated by CC

No he wasn't, I fixed that. Toyed with it as a Unique as the natural single mechanic. CC is right, it would, and no that wouldn't be a bad thing because new counter pieces are always being made.

Cost could be too low though.

I believe there already is a Force Immunity counter.

This would get rid of whole squads, it's not a counter, it's a nerf.

I disagree. it is a Unique, it can dramatically boost an imperial squad but it would be too expensive to be useful.

BOOST IMPERIALS?!? Imperials are the best faction, what makes you think they need a boost? They already have Ysalamiri. Why do you think every faction should have Ysalamiri? It would make the game less fun than it already is.

Um, I think Imperials are fine. Pellaeon is already cheaper than this, and superior. In my comment above, I didn't mean to imply that it's a bad idea, just that it would be a funny new direction for the game. Fringe Ysalamiri is certainly an interesting idea, but in my own humble opinion, if you pay just for Ysalamiri, it's too cheap, so for it to work out well you kind of need a bunch of random extra tech.

Like the Mandalorian Training Sergeant - it's CE could be abusive if it was cheaper and didn't have Battle Ready, but with Battle Ready it is conveniently expensive enough for one to be useful but two to be overkill. So I don't have any suggestions in particular, but if you could find some random extra stuff that would technically raise the cost without making him a ton more useful, that would help things out.

Thanks CC, I felt he was. I wanted to see reaction first to cost and basic abilities... :) I will ponder...Talon Karrde, Smuggler, Pirate hmmmm
