Special Abilities

  • Droid (Immune to critical hits; not subject to commander effects)
  • Affinity (May be in a Separatist squad)
  • Shields 2 (When this character takes damage, make 2 saves, each needing 11; each success reduces the damage dealt by 10)
  • Honing Reflexes (If this figure has line of sight to an allied character with a Force rating, that character gains Evade.)
  • Sink or Swim (If this character has line of sight to an ally with a Force Rating, that character loses 10 hit points every time it fails to make an attack. Force powers ignore this ability.)

When training a Sith, there is no such thing as "making it easy for them"; it is always kill or be killed. Errata Notice: Honing Reflexes does not effect a character who's name contains "Grievous".

Simultaneously a Destroyer Droid wannabe and a means of making the WOTC Revan, Dookus, and Mauls more playable.

4? Hm. The Rodian Merchant (also done to make characters like Revan more playable) also got a low score. Methinks someone's got a grudge.

For the record, I like this a lot better than the Rodian Merchant. This helps struggling pieces (force users in the Seps and Sith) while the Rodian Merchant will just be used to make good pieces better (like Lord Vader or Grand Master Luke Skywalker). It's possibly a little undercosted though, as it does a lot for 12 points.

^Well, to be fair, he can't help Revan as much if he costs too much. This figure plus WOTC Darth Revan would be 100 points right out of the gate.

With Shields 2 and Mobile, I'd be tempted to just use a whole lot of them as shooters. Throw in Whorm or GGDAC and the Battle Droid Officer, and they're pretty darn good for 12 points.

^Yep. They're versatile. You can use them as shooters, or to beef up characters like Darth Revan, CS Darth Maul, RotS Darth Tyranus, Darth Maul CotS, Count of Serenno, and so on.

Mobile shooters with Shields are a pretty powerful tool for GGDAC though. It probably just ends up making him better.

^Maybe, but now both options are viable. It's the same with Rodian Merchant; you COULD use him to make someone like Lord Vader better...but it is now ALSO viable to make other figures playable. So now there's more than one viable strategy.

Perhaps it might be better if I kept Shields, but took away Mobile Attack?

Edited him. With Mobile Attack and Double Attack taken away, and his Attack score lowered, he is now less viable with that pesky game-breaker GGDAC, and can focus on doing what he's supposed to do; help characters like the Dookus, Mauls, and Sith Uniques.

I think he's still costed too lightly, he's got almost as much survivability as a Destroyer Droid, which is 30 points. Granted, this has much less attacking prowess, but I think just for Shields 2 you need to go more like 15 or 16. I do like the idea of Shields keeping him alive in the firefight, though. No point in having him if he gets sniped before allies get to use him :)

^Exactly. Also, the cheaper he is, the more viable he is to use with expensive uniques that he's meant to help (such as the Dookus and Mauls). If he costs 20, and Maul costs say, 45, then that's 65 points right there. They're supposed to be a legitimate asset to pieces like Darth Maul, CotS. If they're too pricey in conjunction with him, it sort of defeats the purpose IMO.
