My way of making the Echani Handmaidens better without needing to rely on my least favorite SW character to do it.

why is this character an instructor?

^Simple; he's the one who teaches the moves to others. The Echani have to learn from someone, don't they?

haha sorry I meant what on this characters stat line suggests he is an instructor? for instance take other characters with instructor in their name and they have a ce or something that helps others because they are instructors and help others

^That's a fair point. However, he already gives you a lot for 22 points. Wouldn't want him to be TOO powerful for his cost after all.

what about something simple like +2 defense?

^Yes, I think that can work.

I don't think it's enough to make Handmaidens playable. With only 10 damage, they can't hurt pieces with Damage Reduction, and also struggle against Crab Armor/Dark Armor etc. You can use Jabba CL, but there's not much else for them in OR.

^You said Atris made them playable, and she didn't give them anything more than higher Attack and lower cost. And 10 damage isn't a kiss of death for them either, because they have Twin Attack.
TheHutts

Atris gives them +4 attack and +10 damage, plus her Meditation pushes their attack even high. Twin still doesn't get around damage reduction.

^I just looked her up, and nowhere does it say she gives Echani Handmaidens +4 Attack except with Meditation. And I didn't see anything about Damage. I think she got nerfed.

Atris' Commander Effect is "Characters in your squad named Echani Handmaiden get +4 Attack and +10 Damage."

They also have Double Attack, which, in conjunction with Twin Attack should absolutely be able to counter Damage Reduction (something not every character has anyway).
TheHutts

Nope, because they only do 10 damage per shot. And damage reduction can remove 10 damage per shot. Not saying 10 damage shooters are useless, but playing a whole bunch of them means you can struggle against damage negation.

@Echo: So it does. Huh. I looked that figure's stats up three times, and only just saw that. Must be losing my eyesight.

You know Damage Reduction applies to every single attack, right? So if a character has Damage Reduction 10 and is being attacked by a character that does 10 damage, it doesn't matter if you make 10 attacks, no damage is going to get through unless you roll a 20 (in which case 10 damage gets through).

Now that I know about that CE, I'm exchanging the custom one for that one.

@Echo: Yeah, that was already explained to me by Hutts.

I don't think I'll let him give them a counter to Dark Armor though, because that would be too much for one non-unique. No "crab-busting" either, because that wouldn't really make sense for OR-era characters.

Actually, I got a better idea; instead of giving him Atris' CE, I'm thinking of giving him one where the Echani ignore Damage Reduction.

Seems like I was the only one who liked this figure in the end. Ah well. More's the pity. I still think he's pretty good for his cost.
