My understanding is that the WOTC-era Old Republic suffered from an over-reliance on uniques with little to no ranged defense. These guys are meant to fix that little problem.

People will use them to give Evade to GOWK, Yobuck, etc.

^Yeah, and the OR figures as well. There's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from using this figure to improve OR figures as well. There's more than one way to play the game.

Near as I can tell, a lot of figures for both Republic factions would benefit from this piece: GOWK, all of the Yodas, Nomi Sunrider, General Windu, the CS Jedi, Bastila Shan, Jedi Exile, etc. They might help out some of the generic Jedi pieces as well, and they're cheap enough that you could field more than one.

Making good pieces better just makes bad pieces worse. This piece would make WotC-only OR even less viable, because you could play this in Republic and make a far better squad.

An interesting piece- which would make Paratus Mirror Droid Squads even more of a nasty prospect. A solid 9/10, as training droids such as from JK:JKA are missing and would have been cool minis. I think the only concrit I can think of, would be to limit somehow how "Honing Reflexes" works, to address potential 'meta-abusive' combos made by min-maxers...

cont. perhaps limiting it only to non-uniques of a certain cost? (don't want to over-power the Jedi Weapons Master either...) and, to prevent Kazdan Paratus Mirror shenanigans, maybe a higher cost to prevent being brought in as a reserve etc? as it stands, this training droid is more competitive than the original CS Jedi Guardian, or the RotS "jedi Knight", even more tempting than the CotF Jedi Padawan etc... food for thought is all; thanks for sharing an awesome piece

I like the idea, but I think the piece would be better off without affinity. The WotC OR really needs the help; WotC Republic does not. Limiting it to non-Unique in Republic would be a great idea, but that makes for an awkward wording. Aside from the potential abuse others have mentioned, I give this piece a 10/10. WotC Old Republic would greatly benefit from this piece. (For the record, I think 13 attack with Double is a little high for 12 points, but that's just me)

@Echo: I disagree with you, because with this figure you can conceivably do both. Some of the best WOTC figures were good because of how you could use them in multiple ways, under multiple conditions, with multiple characters. They weren't limited to just one approach. These are the same. Unless you were pitting Republic against Old Republic, you could use these to make an OR squad viable against someone other than the Republic, such as the Sith, Vong, and so on.

when playing to win if a piece presents 2 options and one option is clearly superior, why would the other option ever be played? kind of like rapport for a character whose name contains Vader, sure it helps darth vader, dark jedi... but it also helps darth vader, scourge of the jedi. so there would never be a reason to play the dark jedi, ever.

^Bad comparison. Both Vaders come from the same faction, whereas this character helps two separate factions.

Well now, this is interesting: I got rid of the Republic Affinity, and someone else gave it a low score anyway. Funny how all of my attempts to make older figures more playable are met with a negative reception. At least if the scores they get are anything to go by. Only reason he has 7 right now is because I gave him a 10.

I give him a 9. it's not a bad example it is bad understanding

^Well, it's all a moot point now, because his Republic Affinity is gone.

please, there are so many other things in this game that would be worse then this. as a matter of fact there are enough movement options that it may not even be an issue. Force pull, force push, repulse, battle manipulation, rout, etc.

^I still think this figure is necessary to help the WOTC-Old Republic. They were the weakest of the factions pre-V Set.

I like this version. I just really didn't like Evade stacking with SSM.

^Thanks. Well, he can't be used with the Republic now. He's strictly an OR-helper. Makes the WOTC Old Republic more viable.
