  • Elite Trooper (At the start of the skirmish, choose a trooper type. This character gains the chosen trooper type for the rest of skirmish.))
  • Extra Attack (On his turn, this character can make 1 cumulative extra attack instead of moving)
  • Ambush (This character can move and then make all his attacks against 1 enemy who has not activated this round)
  • Accurate Shot (Can attack an enemy with cover even if it's not the nearest enemy)

  • Stealth (If this character has cover, he does not count as the nearest enemy for an attacker farther than 6 squares when choosing targets)

It's not amazing, but Elite Trooper makes it flexible. Damage 30 gives it teeth. Accurate makes it attractive. 80 HP with stealth makes it non-fodder. 30 points means after commander buffs, you can only really have about 2 of them so you can't just spam them onto the battle map and they can't come in with any reserves. I think Elite Trooper with Extra Attack are the real jewels though. Just think of the options...

Wow! Nicely done sir! That is a scary trooper! Extra Attack is nice - thinking of Darth Vader Agent of Evil? This piece is pretty powerful... how good is Accurate Shot these days? Vader AoE and Thrawn lets them deal 120 Accurate Damage... but that's 157 points for two commanders and two Troopers, so I suppose you do need to get some good mileage out of them.

I'm not a big fan of super non-uniques because they either seem too powerful or are too expensive to really use multiples (or both). I like the abilities, though EA is debatable. Don't get me wrong, its a great ability, just perhaps too much here. The stats are a bit too stout. 70 HP is pushing it and 30 base is crazy with all the possible combos due to Elite Trooper.

Very powerful trooper version

just wanted it higher than Daala and gave it HP instead dark armor which I feel is ok. If you dig hard enough you will find that Elite Trooper is easily broken but I don't have the will to change it at this moment. Thank you all for the feedback.

@CC, The Star Destroyer Officer can give them double, then add in Rulf Yage and/or Piett instead of Thrawn. That's only 48 points. (not counting Rom Mohc, which you might want) Elite Trooper is very cool. Would it work better if you lowered the damage to 20?

Dropped damage to 20. My thoughts on troopers and this weeks challenge are this: Troopers in general have always sucked, until Rogue One and the Dark Trooper. They could hit enemies and operated like a real soldier would using tactics not just the normal "hup hup hup hup" jogging into battle, missing every shot then getting dropped by somebody who has never touched a gun in their life. Dark Troopers were elite and good at their job. For the challenge, I wanted to make something better than using GARY and bringing in Gloomwalker Snipers which are the best troopers in all of minis.

Totally agree that they should actually be useful. I do have a quick question though: do you happen to know if Shields stacks with Advanced Shields?Because if so, you can have General Rom Mohc and General Weir in the squad, and these guys will have Shields 2 and Advanced Shields 2... and Twin Attack... I don't have any helpful suggestions off the top of my head, just thought I'd point it out.

Problem solved. You now have to pick ONE trooper type. It can be a navy trooper, sith trooper, snow trooper, whatever...but it can't be everything.

@Donny, About troopers sucking before Rogue One you should look at what I just posted in the Star Wars/Meme thread.

Very nice fix, donny! Now I wonder if it'd be too much to add 30 damage back in? I suppose it would... going with Thrawn and Weir, these guys could dish out 160 damage apiece. I suppose it's probably best with 20 damage. I really like how this is turning out! (Also, I like the period in the title - I always know which one's yours :P)
