Special Abilities

  • Melee Attack (Can attack only adjacent enemies)
  • Stealth (If this character has cover, it does not count as the nearest enemy for an attacker farther than 6 squares when choosing targets)
  • Surge Coral (Whenever this character's attacks hit a living character, that character receives -2 to saves, -2 defense, -2 attack for the rest of the skirmish. This ability stacks. That character is also considered activated for rest of the round, save 11.)
  • Non-sentient (Not subject to commander effects. This character cannot gain Diplomat or Aggressive Negotiations.)

Would suggest a tiny base proxy from DnD minis. Maybe a stirge even thought the implanter doesnt have wings: http://www.vesivus.com/minis/WotDQ_Stirge.htm

I would abuse the crap out of this thing. It would be 13 for 40 and I'd have at least 20 of them all with spit poison for good measure. Their lack of Force Immune at least allows enemies to LS block though.

That is just it, Im not sure if they should be Force Immune (from my reading). But my idea behind these is if your enemy ignores these (say 2 or 3 maybe 4), than your enemy is likely to have one of his more powerful pieces locked down to being useless. They arnt exactly hard to kill off, but it makes your enemy think "should i hit that bigger damage threat, or should i kill off these little bugs?" thus freeing up your bigger guy(s) to damage their targets and possibly staying up longer to do so.

I didnt add spit poison as i didnt see them have that ability in the source book. Do they have it in the novels?

I would give them spit poison with Yomin Carr. Which I forgot about his poison +10 hand out which would make these guys +13 for 50. Vong are by far the most dangerous faction to build in. You have to think of every angle possible because they are soooooo very easy to buff. EDIT: one more thought, stealth makes them Nom's new best buddies

Yea i kinda wanted them to go well with Nom, but didnt exactly wanted them to have a range ability. Have been thinking of making them not subject to commander affects. Or maybe, not subject to commander affects that grant ranged abilities?

I would definitely make them not subject to Commander effects as surge is an incredibly powerful ability on such a cheap piece. As it only relies on this character attacking an enemy piece. I would reword it to when this character deals damage to a piece or else a simple group of four could decimate an epic jedi piece. And for simplicity's sake since no other abilities use tokens I would just take out the cumulative stun and make it one round as well as just saying "this ability stacks" to imply increases in stat/save reduction

good points GG. I have been leaning on making it not subject to commander effects. Ill VERY likely go with it.

ok, question, remove stealth and give cloaked?

... my problem with this whole conversation is the "non-sentient." By definition, it has no awareness or intelligence, so shouldn't it be indiscriminant about its attacks? Lacking "intelligence," how could you control it and make it part of a Faction and Not attack your other squad members? ... and if the damage stacks, could you treat it as a poison and "Heal" it? Hmmm.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Implanter it very much sounds as if they were controlled (perhaps like irl dogs etc). also it was very much a creature of the Vong, whether or not created by, or simply manipulated and controlled/bread by the vong (again a lot like dogs or cats in real life). Healing it is a possibility? again i havent read the novels so how serious is the surgery etc etc required to remove them is an unknown for me. Id assume it would require full surgery, something that would never happen on an active battlefield.

The only sources i have are the comics and the wiki. Yea you could heal the damage (drop in HP) but could you actually remove the other affects. Chemical poisons are one thing, a biological seed being implanted and starting to do its own thing inside of you sounds a whole lot more complicated to treat than a simple poison.

Looks like a fun, inexpensive piece.

I would leave stealth on it as cloaked is probably too much for 5 points

You are likely right GG. Thanks to all of you for the advice :)
