Special Abilities

  • Droid (Immune to critical hits; not subject to commander effects)
  • Twin Attack (Whenever this character attacks, he makes 1 extra attack against the same target)
  • Flight (Ignores difficult terrain, enemy characters, low objects, and pits when moving)
  • Power Consumption (Your squad may only contain up to 2 of this character)
  • Damage Reduction 10 (Whenever this character takes damage, reduce the damage dealt by 10. Attacks with lightsabers ignore this special ability.)
  • Forward Positioning (Set up anywhere on your half of the battle map)
  • Immediate Separatist Droid Reserves 20 (If you roll exactly 5, 10, 15, or 20 for initiative, you can add up to 20 points of non-Unique Separatist droid characters to your squad, adjacent to this character, immediately before your first activation of the round)
  • Separatist Droid Deployment 20 (During setup, after seeing your opponent's squad, you can add up to 20 points of non-Unique Separatist Droid characters to your squad, adjacent to this character.)
  • Recon (Roll twice for initiative once per round, choosing either roll, if any character with Recon in the same squad has line of sight to an enemy)

Ok that is game-changingly cool, I like the built in recon with the reserves. I would definitely bring this guy or two with tann/Grievous. Only thing I would change is upping the poor guys attacks to at least 8. Very battlefront 2 haha

do you think the transport itself was a droid? was it piloted by someone/something? Wondering if I have to give it "Droid"

Was technically piloted but honestly it was by droids and I'm sure they could have cooked up a droid brain version so I think giving it droid for consistency with the rest is appropriate but you aren't wrong either way

I love the design I just do not see how it helps huges.

You are right, it doesn't help huges but I think this huge makes huges more relevant. 2 of these, Tann, 2 Hailfires and an Uggie. Then drop 20 pointsX2 worth of sep droids. I think it would make for an epic battlefield. Light units out front causing issues while Hailfires drop big damage from the rear. Sounds awesome to me. BUT Jen'ari, you are correct. My character doesn't directly help other huges.

Drop Recon & Forward Positioning; they don't fit the idea (landing in a hot zone would be an interesting real life idea, but game-wise ... its probably a huge so should have Draw Fire .... price drops to 36.

Id use this in my games. (really big games). Use at least one.

Technically all Sep huges can get forward posistioning already, perhaps they were already patrolling Surf? Haha and recon is so nice for the reserves though

.... and I'd like all my customs to have Twin Triple Attack. It's Nice GG but are we creators or fanboys? :) Recon doesn't fit the idea a Troop Transport ... and neither does Forward Positioning in the game mechanics ....

I disagree. The troop transport dropped droids right into the fight, not the back lines. forward positioning is great on a huge so they don't have to dredge through the endless hallways of most current maps. Recon makes sense if they are on the front lines, they would be able to see the enemy better. For me, it's about making something that people want to use. Could I rehash piece of shit and slap huge on it? Of course I could, but I want to push the boundaries and this piece puts Seps back on the map. Has flavor, function and fun. I proud of it. I bumped the attack up too for you to GG.

Donny, in real life I'd actually agree with you. But we're talking game/game mechanics. As an example, real Fire Support Mission would hit harder than 60 damage and there isn't a "save" in the real world, a Sep player wouldn't have a limit on how many droids he could drop and there isn't Gambit (If there was, we wouldn't have lost the Vietnam War :) )

I could see an ability (or perhaps it should be an CE) that would give all droids (or all battle droids) Recon. The battle droids (the 4 point versions in the game) were used for everything. they were used as pilots, gunners (though none have gunner currently?!?!?!), manual labor, and yes even scouts/patrol units. (much in the way clones were). With that said, I kinda have to agree with Surf that this piece shouldn't necessarily have Recon. Im not saying this to try and get on Surf's good side, I just dont think it is very thematic to a VERY large troop carrier.

With that said, I suggest 1: remove Recon, 2: make unit colossal (it is 1.6x the length of an AT-AT at 36m, where the AT-AT is 22m), 3: bump those Reserves, Deployment points up....maybe around 40? 50?, 4: Give it DR 20, 5: give it Weak spots 10, 6: give it double attack instead of twin (I see myself not moving this thing unless I had to, and +8 attack for 20, could help knock out a few enemy troopers) I could see this with a staggard activation (though with only a few (3?) things to do). Im a firm believer in staggard activation for colossal scale pieces.

Flight is fine, but id also add it also can ignore walls (it removes them possibly when it moves over them, this is currently in a more meta discussion possibly). It should def destroy cover terrain if it moves over it. I stand behind all 3 of my previous statements. I could easily see myself using this in a big game (40k style), a scenario type game where certain rules (if agreed upon) could be ignored, such as Power Consumption. Truth be told in that type of game, Id likely only use 1 or 2 of these, depending on the point totals for each side. I REALLY like ideas of this piece!!
