Special Abilities

  • Droid (Immune to critical hits; not subject to commander effects)
  • Damage Reduction 10 (Whenever this character takes damage, reduce the damage dealt by 10. Attacks with lightsabers ignore this special ability.)
  • Heavy Weapon (Can't attack and move in the same turn)
  • Laminanium Armor (Each time this character activates, remove 10 damage from it.)
  • Lift 2 (Replaces attacks: touch; move up to 2 Small or Medium allies to any space adjacent to this character. This move does not provoke attacks of opportunity.)
  • Stable Footing (Not slowed by difficult terrain or low objects)

This ASP-7 droid was heavily upgraded to be a much bigger nuisance than the original. ;)

Actually costed about right (I had 22.) I'll assume it's raison d'ĂȘtreis is the Lift 2. We rarely have used the Lift in our group, so what do you hope to accomplish/worried about with this character?

Is this guy suppose to be a Medium? DR/LA with being a Bg is interesting, and I can actually see using Lift 2 while being a BG. Pretty neat idea IMO.

Torn on this guy as theme-wise he's great but just too many abilities on such a cheap character for me. It's hard to get around that with droid/heavy weapon being needed ones, and bodyguard/DR10/Lift being his whole trick. Maybe drop Stable footing just to help with card clutter/simplicity.

His card definitely is a bit busy. I could drop Stable, but it can really help him get to an ally in trouble. I could lose LA instead, or maybe swap both LA and DR for Shields 2 or something like that. hmm.

His "Card" isn't actually that bad; so ultimately if you're cutting, what do you really want if its bare bones?

Ironically enough, where I started thinking was just a much improved (survivable) ASP-7 (which this is) and Bodyguard was a late thought I added, then changed the name to reflect. Stable was the last thing I added, but is more in line with improving the functionality of the original than BG. I had also considered Draw Fire.

To answer your (surf's) question in the first comment, yes, it's mainly about Lift. I had posted a link on the ASP-7 character thread to an article some guy wrote way back when. There are some really useful tricks you can pull off with good positioning. Stable is there to make positioning a little easier. So I'm kinda tempted to drop BG and get his cost down without being on the bottom end of "aggressive" range.

Dropped BG. Too cheap? I'll go 20pts for Lobot and take my chances with Wuher.

I definitely like the lift and bodyguard combo. I understand why you removed it, but I'm sad to see it go. Bring it back for another card combination sometime.

Yeah, BG and Lift do seem really fun together. The more I thought about it, Lift 2 with BG seemed like a pretty massive power increase to me after I had already pumped its potential staying power up so much with DR/LA. Snatching an ally away from from a based enemy without an AoO is really good. Snatching 2 at once, or swapping targets... hey, my guy just shot you up, but here is an uggie for you to retaliate against. It's kinda nuts tbh. :)
