  • Speed 4 (Can move only 4 squares and attack, or 8 squares without attacking)
  • Hardwired Comm-link (Select up to 3 commanders from your faction not present in your squad that cost less than 40. Place their cards underneath this character's card, with the commander effect showing.)

Out-of-the-box idea sparked for this week's CCC (Reinforcements). Lots of questions that I would like to hear feedback on. Is Holographic Command close enough to fit the contest's criteria? Is it too powerful/crazy an ability to allow switching of CE's on a turn basis? My hope is that this could compete with Lobot in terms of utility, but maybe this is just too bizarre to really be worthwhile.

Very out of the box idea Oakel, I do think that this guy as is would be really bad for prolonging the game with analysis paralysis as being able to select from one of 350+ commander effects each round. And that could seriously slow things down, as well as be extremely difficult to playtest with the sheer number of current interactions and design around for the future.

Some alternative ideas are a non-unique commander reinforcements instead? This would fit the theme of the contest better. Or the ability to copy a non-unique enemy CE within line of sight,

Late to the party; sorry. Don't know if GG specifically counted or just guessing, but I got 112 Commanders. Even if they Only averaged 1.5 CE's each, that's 168 possible CE's, which I think is just too much; one commander at start of skirmish maybe and use whatever they have?

Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll withhold this for review. I'll take another stab at it for another CCC instead. I like the non-unique as a limiting factor in terms of gameplay, but I'm not sure that it fits thematically. I definitely agree that picking from 168-350+ commander effects would be absurd.

Updated to limit paralysis by analysis. Do the analysis beforehand- pick 3 good options. Allows for squad flexibility like Lobot, but in a very different way. Imagine: Select Thrawn, Ozzel, and Veers throw it into a Daala squad for the Prideful bonus. Hoo boy.
