Great piece Gandalf but why does he give out an ability that he himself doesn't have? sorry that kind of stuff bothers me lol

Can we up his defense and drop melee duelist? You can make the decision just say allies get +4 attack against adjacent opponents.

CQF would make no sense on a melee character. There are plenty of commanders in the game who give out abilities that they don't have. In such cases, the ability is defined in the CE, but on a custom that doesn't matter as much.

but why not jsut spell it out anyway? Commander effect: Mandalorian allies get +4 attack against adjacent enemies

Why? Because spelling it out was something the game did back in WOTC days, before we got all the effects defined as special abilities. Also, because it then wouldn't stack with other Mando attack boosts like the Quartermaster and the Strike Force Leader.

precisely... who wants to grant +8 attack in a faction?

The designers of various Republic, Imperial, Fringe, New Republic, Old Republic, Yuuzhan Vong, Separatist, Rebel and Sith characters, apparently. There are plenty of combinations in all factions which can give characters +8 Attack.

I don't think Close-Quarters Fighting can be much of an issue anyway- Mandos are generally better off staying away from enemies and shooting them, so CQF doesn't help them that much.

Ok what is the combo for +6 or +8 attack in republic? Gen sky and gowk? They don't help each other and it is over 50% of the squad. Goek and yularen is one. What is the combo for other factions?

I guess my point is double. Those combos are rarely used and the quartermaster is way too expensive to play anyway. Might as well not allow for any "abusing". And it looks better in the card. The +2 from the stone force leader would be used all the time because it is cheap attack boost.

Look, the ability is CQF, okay? It's not broken. It helps melee the most, and Mandos are weak in that area. This guy would probably not show up in many builds at all.

i mean you are going to do whatever you want. The reason why i post is to give criticism and help lend a hand in what i see would be better. IP don't like giving the ability CQF on this guy. Therefore, i, simply, will not vote for it as is. which is of course fine.
