Hmmm... Low Cost-to-HP ratio. This guy would have to be well-protected.

... or "high" ratio. Whatever... :-)

Way too expensive to be worth it, but certainly would be fun. Too bad this is all a very cruel joke played by shinja...

I think if it were cheaper, it would be too easy to abuse. And at 20 points, it's an option for Fringe Reinforcements or Reserves against a Force-heavy squad.

Have Wedge or Rieekan give it evade. Then it will stick around a bit longer.

nah i think its perfect at 20 & a good point from shinja it would be abused way to badly if it were lower costing..

Why does it have enplacement, it has 4 leds that aren't broken!

If you read the Thrawn trilogy you'll find out. Not 100% sure about it, I would tell you if I knew.

Emplacement is totally wrong for this piece, IMO. I guess perhaps if it's 'Ysalimiri on Tree', lol. Thrawn and his troopers carried these things around on backpacks. I would rather see some sort of SA that requires the Ysalamiri to be adjacent to an allied character all the time, or move along with an allied character. With Emplacement....any shooter will pick this off quite quickly.

I think on a map with corners and long shooting lanes like Ravaged Base or Chancellor's Starship, there would be many good places to plant an Ysalamiri back from the corner so your (mobile) shooters could shoot around the corner and not be Deflected. It's been awhile since I read the Thrawn trilogy, but I don't remember them being particularly mobile. It seems like someone either carried them, or Jedi were lured to a location that already had them in place. But I could be way off.

What about "attaching" the Ysalamiri to characters (a la Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Spirit and Luke Skywalker, Jedi Spirit) with one difference -- they would have to be adjacent (the "moble" character carries the Ysalamiri). If that character is defeated, then it becomes an enplacement. Carrying it around essentially would give it some sort of cover. I could see a myriad of Ysalamiri used in scenario games, especially on the Endor Bunker map (to re-enact Luke's trek through the jungles of Myrkr with Mara Jade. Oh, don't forget the vornskrs).

Shinja is right about emplacement in the Thrawn trilogy they permanently attached them, selves to tree and could not be taken on the tree limb or they would die. Thrawn and his men just took off the trree branch, thus it should be "Ysalamari on Branch".

No, that's not right. Talon Karrde had developed a method to get ysalamiri off of their trees, and he showed it to Thrawn, who then learned how to make Ysalamiri Cages. I made a custom similar to this,. It was "Ysalamiri in Oblio Tree", I believe. It might still be floating around in the Custom Minis forum of the Wizard boards . .

I think I had a end of turn ability that allowed an adjacent character to gain Ysalamiri with a save of 16.

Actually they developed a means to get the braches off and keep the ysalamiri branch off and have them get nutrients from the nutrient fram on someone's shoulders instead of gettting nutrition from the tree.

if these things were walking around and cost less they would be everywhere and no one would be able to use force powers just stick a bunch of uggs next to it and give it evade and you should be fine

Make it 15 points and it might see play. Make it 10 and its a damn good piece.

Makes you think that Thrawn is even more under priced. He can do this, moving, with more HP AND has Master Tactician. Not to mention the CE...
